hey jsyk, this is a scam. the images in this user's gogetfunding are stolen from an instagram user named alaina, and are consistent with the methodologies in the scam linked below. please block and report
SkySleuth@skysleuth.bsky.social · 3mo agothese images used by the scammer also appear in a crowdfund for another (likely) scam with a different name - you can see that gogetfunding intervened here and cystic fibrosis is a common disease this scam ring uses to try and steal money

as someone who tracks scams i think it is incredibly bleak that someone with a legitimate need can execute scamlike tactics and suddenly every weird #resist person on here is suddenly an expert in RICO law and the Baker Act, while falling back on the "oh how can i trust palestinians now?" shibboleth

this scammer changed their pinned post to this containing the stock image of the blood sugar meter and the stolen art from a tumblr artist actually suffering from diabetes. both of these images are well-worn and constantly employed by this scammer. please report if you haven't already!

Been a while since I saw a Steven Mwita scammer but here's a new (old) one. The "I need an insulin pen" scam is pretty much word-for-word what they use.

Another new alias, same MO - steals posts and images from popular posts, follows several thousand people en masse, then immediately starts asking for MA. Please block and tell your friends if you see them reposting these.

SkySleuth@skysleuth.bsky.social · last yr.after doing some research i am convinced this is a scam, you can see the email in the third image being used to con some people in a facebook group a few months ago with a different story where they are apparently dying, but the current account makes no mention of that. curious!

Here's a weird new one, matches several of the hallmarks of the Steven Mwita scam. "The Freedom Room" is an org in Australia helping people with addiction, and has nothing on their site mentioning Gaza currently, so put two and two together here.
