there is no question about the inequality of wealth in England. it is grosser than in any European country, and you have to only look down the nearest street to see it. - George Orwell nothing changes. it just continues and grows. the 7:84 theatre groups name in the 70s stemmed from financial

the hanging judge…is a symbol of the strange mixture of reality and illusion, democracy and privilege, humbug and decency, the subtle network of compromises, by which the nation keeps itself in its familiar shape. - G Orwell But what do we do in a time when judges like Mr Justice Johnson can rule

the English are not gifted artistically. they are not as musical as the Germans and Italians, painting and sculpture have never flourished in England as they have in France. Another is that, as Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. they have a horror of abstract thought… - G. Orwell

when you are at school as a child they teach you that there are sixty seconds in a minute and sixty minutes in an hour and twenty-four hours in the day. but experience soon dawns on you that the teacher lied. you sit in class doing an exercise in your book waiting for the hands on the clock to move around and say it is home time.

saw the odyssey tonight. good but flawed. it was almost a Hollywood epic but not quite. I guess cgi was part of it. Athe script was ok. some actors were underused performance wise. visually good. but dune was more a cinematic spectacle this was ok

i was on the tube and there was someone sketching pictures in a notebook and they were brilliant. i run a bookshop and we have an art gallery. I didn’t want to be that old creepy guy approaching a young female on a tube hassling them. Fortunately i was with my female partner who could approach.

the palm trees sway and i can hear the rolling call of waves on the shore. the sky flashes bright but no birds protest. tomorrow they will sit on chairs requesting crumbs from uneaten cutters. i will sip coffee wishing it was stronger. the day will be too bright. but now darkness.

the whisking frogs in the trees never shut up. i thought them the beautiful chorus of birds at first late at night. but a frog in a tree making that sound. yet to catch a blighter and correct them in their sex driven ways. u keep a Gideon’s handy just in case.
