Ham radio callsign SM2OTU since 1983. Active 160-6 meters. Living in north Sweden. Cottage is above the north Arctic Circle. I also have 2 other calls I can use: 8S2A and 8S2DX.
5 baby reindeer in one picture. But saw even more
Midnight at the arctic circle. We finally have midnight sun. Arrivwed here 2 hours ago. No wind. 15C. No mosquitos (!) and I enjoyed a cigar outdoors. Nothing on 6m but I was heard south. Hopefully 6m is open on friday. It is a public holiday as we are celebrating our National Day.
Probably best stay away from HF right now. The pin in the center of the circle is my QTH KP16or
0035 local time. Camera facing north. Still not time for midnight sun, but we are getting there.
An hour before midnight. Camera pointing north. Just a few weeks and sun will be up 24 hours
A new DXCC Challenge point collected. After 34 years :-)
Today it is a bit cold. I make sure the wild animals have something to eat. Today I had a new guest at the "table". He was enjoying some frozen meat. Long time ago I saw a weasel. I have 3 squirrels every day, a pack of nutcrackers and smaller birds.
A bit cold today. The night long so expect a bit colder here. However, I am sitting barefooted in my radio shack wearing shorts and a tshirt. The local reindeer enjoy the roads. First day in 2025 that I have a little energy. Been sick with the flu since monday last year (!)
Old pic from 1985-ish of a younger me SM2OTU. You can see a Tono 9000E I used both for RTTY and AMTOR.
Solar maximum is nice. This was the first visible Aurora on the 12th of september. The big storm in spring of 2024 was not visible here as we had too much daylight here at the arctic circle. Now we can see it if not daily, at least very often, if clear skies. 73 de SM2OTU
