Of all the negation errors, "non citizens are not voting" is the MOST confusing one to voters in focus groups because it's a double-negative. People actually can't follow what this is meant convey. As ever, say what IS happening don't argue against what is NOT happening.
Like high gas prices, extreme weather now functions as a kind of public pedagogy. Americans will learn about climate change, one way or another.

It we want to change the norms in the field, we all have to speak out when something clearly crosses the line. We should also think deeply about how we want to address these issues in academic societies—if someone violates the code of conduct should they win awards and keep positions of power?

This is exactly what happens when public health agencies are stripped of staff and resources. You can’t cut the people responsible for tracking outbreaks, freeze hiring, reorganize the agency, and then expect the same level of response when a public health crisis emerges. We all deserve better.
