I was among the participants that were going to exhibit my comic at SBCF 2025. I applied to this fair due to its reputation and very few, almost no bad press about it. The only example I could find is the organizer's anti-competition statement here. (sorry for QRT, Duke)

The main reason I don't think I'll do it again is because of an update we received leading up to the fair, which seems to discourage people from starting/participating in similar digital fair formats, and I didn't really like that. Just my two cents! YMMV, other folks might feel differently.

Applications for next year's fair are open. There's been over 500 submissions already and I'm having a great time discovering new work. Please note: if you are taking part in any event that is directly ripping off SBCF -i.e. a month long fair debuting all-new comics- your application will not be considered. I have zero issue with digital comics events (they've been around before SBCF and will be after) and am excited to see the area grow, but considerably less excited about having my hard work and singular concept plagiarised.
As an aside, one thing I'm looking into is if it's possible for a digital listing to offer multiple downloads: so that people have the option to buy X artist's new fair comic, but there's a dropdown where they can buy the new comic and the comic they did for the fair last year. I always get a lot of queries after the fair is over about where to find titles, and I think this could be a really neat way of giving the comics further life.

I can finally see my DMs again! UK people and anyone else who has been languishing in refusing to hand Bsky all your information and therefore not being able to see posts with butts or your own damn messages, I recommend deer.social! So sorry to the people who messaged me ages ago also!

had to (hopefully temporarily) go private for medical treatment, so I'm tentatively opening ko-fi sketch commissions to help pay it off. minimum payment £15 for a little colour sketch, but the higher the donation the more detail you get. tank u everyone 👼 ko-fi.com/sna1l/

The Vow by Julian Cormac and Arden Ripley. Oogh this was good. Just an excellent sexy fantasy comic about two people who hate eachother and have to fight a giant monster about it. Cormac's art is beautiful, a really lovely use of bw.

cover of the book The Vow by Julian Cormac and Arden Ripley. cover features art by Cormac of two figures in a close embrace, as one stabs them both through the torso with a long sword.

at the point in treatment where I'm like "wow I can't believe [diagnosis] was The Vitamin all along! how lucky am i" but simultaneously I'm like "wow I can't wait to start feeling good instead of like worse absolute shit than previously"
