Ok, folks, seriously. It's time to stop critiquing & mocking maga/bigots/fash/ICE with fatphobia, classism & ableism. They have tons of valid shitty beliefs to criticize without resorting to asshole-ism punching down.
sometimes you really do just need 10000 watt speakers to vibrate every molecule in your body to fix you. feeling a crisp bass growl through you kinda feels like you're a towel having the dirt shaken off it
I want to be annoyed that this is in Portland, but.. nope. Accurate.

I just got home from my first introductory training as a building rep for my Union. I am very much excite.
I find it tragically criminal that Fairport Convention, that did one of the best renditions of Nottamun Town I've ever heard, did so many Bob Dylan Covers, including an entire album of Bob Dylan songs with guest artists, but never did "Masters of War" which is the same tune as Nottamun Town.
Fuckin' loser shit to run anti-trans ads, but it's also loser shit because transphobes have a transphobe party to pick. Pedophiles, wife beaters, kid beaters, cultists, and so on all have a party of choice too. No reason to court them by doing the diet version.
The whole speech is good, but this part in particular is particularly relevant now. www.trumanlibrary.gov/library/publ...
Went down a folk music rabbit hole today. Thinking I might just start sharing youtube music links periodically here of stuff I like and discover sorta like my old radio shows. Today, Shirley Collins' "Hares on the Mountain"

Every so often I every year or so my mind wanders back to trying to write. I don't know if I have the focus or ideas to do a full novel, but I don't know how trying to publish short stories works. Ahh well, cart before horse I suppose. Write em first then worry.
People that live on the internet on my little pocket box, does occasional writing of articles for tech/film magazines count as being a "writer"? My imposter syndrome likes to yell at me in the face of having a ton of author & musician friends. A couple bylines is still a couple bylines, yeah?
Yesterday was a group birthday outing for me & friends to Fogo for MEAT™️ and social timez. Was gifted handmade items that make me smile. Good times.
I effectively came out as demigirl on FB yesterday.. and, kinda, as expected, I had a friends that were like "yeah, we knew, took ya long enough.." XD
I just, am so done with this bullshit. So done with other people's "ick" getting to dictate what I and so many other people get to do with our lives, how we get to exist.
I have known many trans kids (and cis kids who needed procedures that would fall under "gender-affirming care"). None of them have suffered harmful consequences for getting the care they needed. The harmful consequence for having that care denied is frequently death.
This is the sort of story that Bluesky mostly seems to ignore but I guarantee has large political ramifications in real life. Rural America is getting hosed by this administration from all sorts of angles and that won't go unnoticed. MAGA's understanding of "rural" is an exurban poser.
Jesus Christ.
I have a love-hate relationship with the Walking Dead. Post-Apo Survival Zombie genre is a guilty pleasure & a hyperfocus. So the subject matter makes me drawn to it. But there's so many tropes, so much idiot ball, it's hard to watch. But now there's something more that I've noticed that irks me. 1/
It's raining in Oregon, today, that beautiful autumn rain that feels like the marked changing of the seasons in the PNW from Summer to Autumn, with the wind blowing in, that magical wind that feels amazing after the summer. The weather that reminds me just exactly why I wanted to live here at all.
I've got a bunch of events coming up in Portland! Hope to see folks there!
Welp, today I did something I probably should've done ages ago, & deactivated my xitter account. I'd left it up, but protected, so I could log in and look at other accounts if need be, & as a near 20 year archive. However, they took away my "You can't follow me unless I say so" functionality, so BYE
have you ever been so overwhelmed by the feeling of relief and the weight of anxiety lifting that you were brought to tears?
The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
In honor of Dolly and her commitment to getting books to kids, tell me about a book you read as a child that changed your life. I’ll start: so many, but tonight maybe I’ll say A WRINKLE IN TIME, a book that taught me anger wasn’t wrong.
Ever stop to think about how much the TV series of Max Headroom got pretty closely accurate about media future? Edison Carter, a roving street journalist, with controllers back at the network (Sure seems a lot like Indie Streamers).. ZikZak Blipverts (sounds like TikTok) & AI Talking heads.. 🤔
I found out today that a co-worker friend of mine passed. That's one of the unfortunate things about working in a job that is heavily biased towards retirees and older folks. I'm going to miss my friend, who was always upbeat and positive & trying to make everyone's day better around her. <3
You should check this out if you're in the area!
Oh hey! Pacific Northwest folks, come see Kat and me on tour for Summer Coven! We'll be talking about our silly cozy mysteries about gay vampires and we'll have adorable cat stickers to give away. Hope to see some folks there!
