Time for a new Mac. I downsized everything to a Mac mini but would like some portability back and an iPad isn't really hitting the spot. Looking at a MacBook and feeling like Apple does a poor job of differentiating their products.
Added next/previous post to the blog. I'm on the fence about it because the posts aren't a linear story. I feel like random posts or no posts might be more appropriate.
"I'll wait until it comes out on video to watch it." And then I proceed to never watch it when it comes out on video.
With the new design, I'm going through to add some slash pages. Newly added: My AI Statement snook.ca/ai

The new design has been up for a week and I am already making a big (but small) change.

The End and The Beginning - Snook.ca
Snook.ca v10 and all of its tips, tricks, and bookmarks, has reached an end. In its place is something new and more personal.

I've been enjoying playing with scroll-based animations but implementations are finicky across browsers and I don't love that Firefox still has it behind a flag. It would be nice to be able to style element X that isn't a child of view-timeline.

CSS vs. JavaScript • Josh W. Comeau
There are a bunch of JavaScript animation libraries out there, and you might have wondered whether there’s a performance cost compared to traditional CSS transitions and keyframe animations. In this b...

Great post on AI but I'd also like to mention that I like the hover transition on the font-weight. ky.fyi/posts/ai-bur...

When I cancelled my Adobe subscription, they said that I'd still have access to Adobe Fonts but it's not clear which fonts are only available via a subscription. (It says only 5500 of the 30k fonts would be available.)
Sending money to the IRS via online payment and really hoping this goes through smoothly. Nothing feels particularly clear.
What're people using for a NAS these days? I'm thinking of going local media instead of relying on the cloud so much.
The problem with social media algorithms and April Fools jokes is that the jokes appear long after the day is over.
I appreciate that Sara tracked down this post as it helps provide some context on what's really interesting about this library. I can see the scenarios where it can be helpful—like infinite lists but ugh, I dislike infinite lists, too.
I dislike the "CSS zealots" line (I probably am one), and found it hard to really understand what's going on when the main conversation is within an X thread I cannot access for myself (deleted my account there years ago). But! This helps a lot: denodell.com/blog/youre-l...
Congrats, I guess, on building a layout engine that is demonstrably worse, feature-wise, than what we already have to solve some edge cases you've run into. You sure showed those CSS zealots a thing or two.

Managed to sleep in until 9:30am and was pleasantly surprised until I realized the clocks jumped ahead. I guess I didn't sleep in as much as I thought.
I'm down to owning just 4 domains and I'm tempted to drop it down to just one.
Renewing a .ms domain went from $45/yr to $80/yr. That's quite the jump in one year.
Enjoying some Octomore 10.1 on this fine afternoon, keeping me warm inside while it's cold outside.
I am today years old when I realized they sing "He just smiled and gave me a Vegemite sandwich" and not "He just smiled and gave me a bite of his sandwich".
I think I have become one of those people. I saw a comment from this person who complained they weren't able to get a straw or vanilla syrup with their cold brew and I thought "maybe you should go to Starbucks if that's what you want".
Am I a speedskater? No. Do I even own skates currently? Also no. Do I want a helmet like the Olympic speedskaters? Yes.
Appliance stores should let you demo the appliances before purchase. Like, let me bring over a load of laundry and see how well the washer and dryer actually works.
Me: "Even a broken clock is right twice a day." Kids these days: "What are you talking about? Is your phone broken?! How can you even tell the time without your phone?"
Always a joy. "When you eat beaver, you understand that it's beaver." www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsa7...
