Mel Brooks once said that you can never get even with a truly evil man through rhetoric, but "if you can make people laugh at him, then you’re one up on him.” He was referring to making fun of Adolph Hitler, but I think the Nazi leader in the U.S. could also be the object of the comment.

Composers such as Arnold Schoenberg, Kurt Weill, Paul Hindemith, Ernst Krenek, Hanns Eisler, and even the long-deceased Felix Mendelssohn were censored, banned, or denounced as creators of “degenerate music” by the Nazis. Authoritarian movements often seek to control culture as well as politics.

Behold the anti-Christ. We’re living through the Four (Gilded) Horsemen of Trump’s apocalypse. Pestilence: Measles, avian flu, polio. War: Ukraine, the Middle East, Sudan. Famine: Gaza and Sudan. Death: COVID, war, disease, famine, climate disasters. I hope the eschaton is quick and painless.

The number of anti-LGBTQ+ Republican politicians who later turn out to have engaged in same-sex relationships or behavior is astonishing. At some point you have to ask: is the rhetoric always about conviction, or is it sometimes about signaling to a political base?

I’m still stunned that the planet is burning, and while countries around the world are sending firefighters, aircraft, equipment, and aid to help one another, the United States is imposing higher tariffs on some of those same countries. I genuinely don’t understand how that’s in anyone’s interest.

I wish Ralph Nader had dropped out of the 2000 race. I was young and idealistic and voted for him when I should have voted for Al Gore, and I’ve regretted it ever since. In an election decided by 537 votes in Florida, it’s a decision I’d take back if I could. I’m sorry.

What I don’t understand about Trump/RFK Jr. is the incentive. If vaccine confidence drops, vaccine sales drop too. If preventable diseases return, who benefits? Insurers wouldn’t. Trump’s politics always seemed transactional. I just don’t see the transaction here. What am I missing?

Is the U.S. really not going to offer firefighting assistance to Europe and Canada? Really?

What I can’t understand is why so many of Trump’s most loyal supporters are people struggling the most—financially, educationally, or with access to healthcare. If his policies hurt them, is racial resentment powerful enough to outweigh their own economic interests?

Is it just me, or do the Trumps seem to have almost no friends? Their photos are nearly always just family—vacations, holidays, events. You rarely see them surrounded by longtime friends or a real social circle. Even Barron seems to appear only with family. It’s an oddly solitary public image.

There is an Avenue John F. Kennedy in Luxembourg. I doubt any country will be naming anything after Piggy when this is over. His outrageous behavior, his hatred for everything, his war, his wholesale corruption, his ICE-Stazi slaughtering his own citizens; no one respects him. He will be despised.

Piggy is going to estimate the impact of the smoke coming from the Canadian wild fires, charge that random number back to Canada in additional tariffs (to punish them for having forest fires), which will then result in even higher prices for US consumers of Canadian goods. He’s an idiot. We pay.

I never imagined I’d live in a time when people would literally set themselves on fire to “own the libs.” But that’s what today’s politics has become. Burning down the country to score ideological points isn’t patriotism. #MAGA

It’s always strange when Stephen Miller tries to turn politics into a beauty contest. I’d rather judge leaders by their character, competence, and humanity than by appearances—especially coming from someone whose public image is defined far more by cruelty than charisma.

If Obama was triggering to the MAGAts ushering in a political pendulum swing to the current Nazi-KKK regime, may the current Nazi-KKK be the sobering lesson that ushers in a political revolution to Democratic Socialism. If so, the Earth may buy a few more centuries and the U.S. may heal.

An unstable 1970s former Pfizer headquarters building in Manhattan is unstable and posing a serious risk to the area. Mamdani’s credibility is so strong that I completely trust his handling of the situation. It’s beginning to feel like Democratic Socialism is a path for the future.

Seems like there is more work being done on the Charlie Kirk assassination than any of the multiple presidential assassinations. Is it because it is the only case that actually has a real defendant?

I’m so tired of the daily barrage of hate, despicable acts, unconscionable comments, and utter ignorance pouring out of the MAGA GOP. Could we celebrate the 250th Anniversary of our founding with 24 hours of silence? My psyche could use the break.

I sure hope there is a Blue wave. But I also hope that once the Dems are back in power they will stop confirming all judges and justices until a new president comes along. No more “being reasonable” as if confirming a fascist judge shows their open minds. Block every nomination.

Sam Alito was in the top two of my list of SCOTUS Justices to be impeached, so he retired just in time. BTW, seems like a good idea that any government official who is impeached should lose their pension and benefits. Just thinking out loud here. Whoever Piggy nominates will now be in the watch list

I wonder if Piggy sent a warm and gracious 100th birthday message to Mel Brooks? Nah, just kidding. Piggy thinks “warm and gracious” is fingering women who ask him not to. The U.S. president is a predator and a psychopathic monster.

Remember when ACU chair Matt Schlapp was accused by a male staffer on Herschel Walker’s campaign of groping him in a car? Schlapp denied it. The civil lawsuit was later settled and dismissed. Funny how some who loudly preach “family values” face allegations of their own. Schlapp is still ACU Chair.

Piggy’s constant practice of making up kitschy nicknames for his enemies (and he hates a lot of people) is not the stretch he thinks it is. It’s tired, childish, unintelligent, and mentally challenged. I like presidents who don’t nickname opponents.

I’m thinking we should stop characterizing Piggy as “the leader of the free world.” Piggy is not the leader of the free world. Piggy is openly at odds with the free world and has aligned himself more with Brazil’s Bolsonaro, North Korea’s Kim, and Russia’s Putin.
