An interesting thing if you're building apps that take advantage of on-device models and also processing loads of data through them is device temp. As our first-run needs to go through potentially hundreds of images we have to let folks know if their device needs to take a break!

We're cleaning up a few last bugs before testflight. Here's a quick demo of the detail screen where you can favorite, write notes, set a reminder or share a screenshot. We try to 'stickerize' screenshots if there's obviously one subject in the image. #buildinpublic

Turns out I use an ok amount of screenshots and saved images to keep track of things. New app almost ready for beta! It tells you how much of your camera roll is screenshots. It's for iOS 27 and uses Private Cloud Compute to make sense of your shots without giving away your privacy.

Loaded up the app in the iPhone Duo sim. Plenty of work to make it amazing on the Duo, but it looks decent out of the box in most places. Though make no mistake, we're going to make it a first class citizen on the Duo. And lefties, it looks like closed landscape is for you. #buildinpublic

What if your screenshots could have reminders, notes, and sorted themselves? Working out the detail animations, getting closer to beta test for the new app. If you use screenshots you're going to love it.

Went down a rabbit trail last night on this game and learned that it started on mainframe computers, developed by a few teachers in Minnesota for their 8th grade history class! I have great memories of playing this in class and the library in the 80s... maybe I should do a full playthrough...

Having Silo episodes to go through and new Weezer is exciting...then that reminded me of the gadgets that I carried around to read and listen to things, which had me getting all nolstagic for interesting and fun devices that aren't glass slabs.

Thinking I may try and make a video about the reTerminal Sticky? It's a pretty interesting device, fairly similar to the Xteink X4 but it's got a few interesting differences. the Sticky can run its stock firmware or CrossPoint reader, ESPHome (Home Assistant), Open Display or TRMNL, kinda cool.

Thoughout my career building & designing things I've always enjoyed putting pen to paper for the new ideas that I'm dreaming up. I've kept all my old notebooks with those first drawings. I don't know if the new app's home screen will ultimately look like this. It's one take. Maybe?

This screen is super boring but also exciting, at least to me. We've been noodling on an idea that I've wanted to see happen for a while, and now it can with local on-device models and private cloud compute for iOS devices. Ima try and be quite a bit more #buildinpublic with it. Soon that is.
