Chicago trip loot haul, furry version! A combo of new finds and stuff I've been waiting a while to pick up. I'm especially excited for Last Train to Bremen, a dice-based storytelling game about four musicians (a cat, a hound, a mule, and a cock) trying to cheat the devil 😈

Current status: discussing with non-furry friends if Jewish law allows you to run around as a deer on the Sabbath. Tentative conclusion: as long as you're not making or repairing your fursuit, if you put on your suit at home you should be good! (barring any specific halakha we didn't know about)

Thinking about how after it's done, you can't recover the experience of a story as it comes out: the waiting, the wondering, the discussion with friends. (Imagine starting the MCU, Krakoa, or BSG today!) On this I draw a lot from a thoughtful reflection by someone who did a read-thru of Cerebus:

Had a lot of podcast time this week driving back & forth to (ahem) Deerfield. Today caught up on @thevoice.dog & enjoyed "Nil Inultum Remanebit": always a pleasure to listen to a story with theology, and an oblique callback to one of my favourite VoD stories, and a Pride tale very right for 2026.

Visited Munich's Jagd- und Fischereimuseum (Hunting and Fishing Museum) for the first time, somewhat by accident. Half a trophy hall to an old habit of violence against animals (especially deer), half a modem nature museum to teaching & preserving nature, all in an old church. Weird experience.

bf's research trip went well so my tag-along "research assistant" vacation also went well* 😊 Nothing furry, but here's a roll-up thread of animal imagery from Romania! Starting with this epitaph featuring seven deer being cool from a church in Sibiu:

An epitaph featuring various scenes, including 7 total cool deer.
