Gordon Dump Cemetery Somme. 1st photo last month, & 2nd an explanation of a photo I've been looking for for 40 + YEARS😲 The horrible little entrance is an early 1950's imposition. No2 shows where the original entrance was built, BUT CAN I FIND AN IMAGE OF IT😱 Do you know of one ?

Genesis, history, & architecture of the IWGC. TNA WW1 documentation. Struggle for MoD & CWGC integrity dealing with WW1 ID cases. Don't subscribe to liars.
Has anybody ever come across a case of, or have any comments about, the WW1 possibility of a man enlisting in the ranks of the SPECIAL RESERVE of the British Army AFTER Britain had declared war on Germany🤔
Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery, Belgium. Has anybody any information(*) about the genesis & use of this cemetery 1914-15, & / or ever found any reference to any man / men being exhumed elsewhere & reburied here ? (* not from the cwgc website).
"Sport. /spɔːt/. Noun 1. An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment: 2. A person who behaves in a good or specified way in response to teasing, defeat, or a similarly trying situation: informal." 🤔
Just had a quick flick over to the brawl. Messy was having a lie-down, then one of the argi boxers got sent away. I hadn't quite grasped that the object was to see how many times you could kick oponents🤔 Oh well, back to the typing👍
Peronne Road Cemetery is one of many IWGC WW1 cemeteries which contained "ghost burials" at the end of the war. Some were recognised as such & the "memorials" removed (such as here). Others were not, & some which cwgc know about they are in a state of denial about. >cont>
This Somme cemetery was begun in 1916, and by the Armistice it contained 175 burials. Post-war, the site was used to concentrate graves from the surrounding battlefield and nearby burial grounds. Today, 1,348 soldiers are commemorated here. 📍Peronne Road Cemetery, Maricourt 🇫🇷
What is the point of (the cost of) a dead language such as Welsh😲
An 18-year-old driver has been arrested in suspicion of murder after one teenager was killed and another was injured in an incident in Gorseinon this afternoon. www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-n...
What a pity that cwgc refuse to properly commemorate British WW1 soldiers whose places of burial have also been proven.
Thousands of forgotten Punjabi WW1 soldiers recognised for first time
“As the current holder of the FIFA Peace Prize, do you think your comment influenced FIFA’s decision?” Just for the comedy of the response, I wish someone has asked that.
Knowing SFA about the "spitting game" I'm ever so pleased to have Marmalade Man explain to me & his mate the head of the world spitting game that stamping on your opponent's heal isn't at all naughty. Cut that bloke in half & like a stick of Blackpool rock it'd say "100% corrupt fecker"😱
Was chatting with a Northern Irish group this evening. They are scheduled to be "police allowed" to the tower at 10am, - 2pm ceremony, & then allowed to leave @ 4pm. I'm surprised that the VIPs, VVIPs, & RVIPs offices have agreed to those sort of timings😮
Seems "official" Somme 110 anniversary advice for 1/7/2026 may have been incorrect, - the bit about not being able to attend Thiepval AND the Ulster Tower. Local press now saying HRH The world Smells Of Fresh Paint will be at both, & as we don't live in an egregious society we all can ... surely🤔
"1st July 1916 Officer Roll of Honour" - Trevor Harkin. I'm not at home at the moment & don't have access to my copy. Would appreciate a scan / photo of the entry for 2nd Lt Ralph Stead, 16th Bn West Yorkshire Regt, who is buried in Serre Rd No 2.
As Britain swelters through another heatwave, few people will have heard that ministers have quietly dropped plans for solar carports. Cars cooler in summer. Shelter from the rain in winter. Clean electricity all year round. A missed opportunity?
As Britain bakes, ministers quietly park plans for solar carports

"Granting leave to that group would cover around 90% of the hotel population." There'd be no cost savings because these people would go straight onto PIPs & housing benefits etc. The real cost to the UK taxpayer could increase. Misguided politicians & civil servants are sending us down the swanee😒
Looking at the most recent stats, there were over 18k people in all Home Office accommodation from either Afghanistan or Iran. Large numbers of people are not being returned to either country anytime soon. Granting leave to that group would cover around 90% of the hotel population.
TERRIBLE NHS service😒 Scheduled to be in Epsom General Hosp 09:30 25/6/26 for a surgical consultation. 16:58 24/6/26 hospital 'phone. App't cancelled for one month. "Explanation"; creche / nursery closed because its a "bit hot", several nurses gone home. For goodness sakes, there's a .cont>
Complete privatisation of the NHS should be an absolute red line that mustn't be crossed. Sub-contracting procedures however does make sense. Theoretically state ownership of rail, water, electricity etc makes sense, but blo*dy hell, who remembers the union strangleholds of the 1970's, etc😱
The next Labour leader must commit to reversing NHS privatisation. Share if you agree 💙
Somme July 1st 2026. Does anybody know where on the www Some road closures 1/7/2026 can be found🤔
Anybody else having problems with TNA "Discovery" advanced search ? - I've been getting this error message all day😒

I've now seen this image posted 3,872 times & it's giving me nightmares😱 That woman would be dangerous with a butter knife, let alone a huge axe😲
There is of course a basic error in this clip > www.facebook.com/thesteptoes/... ... Albert refers to the Yanks "17-18 war", when it was in fact it was their "18-18 war"👍 (Late for the rematch as well).

Much like Belleau Wood, the #history of the fighting around the town of Château-Thierry, which began #OTD in 1918, is shrouded in nationalist myth.
Every time I see the photo below I find myself wondering where she died, - shortly after the photo was taken🤔 Who on earth let her loose with an axe ? (and a big one at that😱).
Who would like a Horace Nicholls photo? A member of the Women's Forestry Corps uses an axe to mark felled tree trunks for sawing c1917-18. Source: www.iwm.org.uk/collections/...
22yr old 2nd Lt Arnold James Beal, 12th Bn York & Lancs Regt KiA 1/7/1916 near Serre. Arnold was officially "missing"until evidence accumulated about his death, & then V Corps found his body when they cleared the battlefield in spring 1917 & buried him in Queens Cemetery, Puisieux, E.39.
