My first of the species since I noticed the name update to the Northern Yellow Warbler and probably my best photo of the species under any name. Happy to see this little tennis ball in a nearby shrub. 🪶 #itsabird

This week is all about juggling but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to take an opportunity to scout the birding scene too. Went and found an observation that had just the most delightful people and amazing birds. Great start to the week. #itsabird 🪶
New bird entered the chat today. Though Hairy Woodpeckers were regular visitors at the old house there’s a whole new spark of excitement the first time I see each species at the new house. 🪶 #itsabird
Was so excited to see this fella at the feeder today. I ran to grab the camera. I’ve never seen this coloration on a House Finch in person before and I was thrilled he stayed nearby long enough for me to get outside. #itsabird 🪶
From time to time I get mildly obsessed with finding a specific bird species. There’s not much rhyme or reason for which ones spark this as best I can tell. Sometimes it’s weeks, others much longer to find them but the thrill is always the same. The Cinnamon Teal was one such bird. 🪶 #itsabird
New neighbor seems happy with the snacks I brought to the neighborhood feeder selection. #itsabird 🪶
Today I go to a favorite, the Blue Jay. It’s been a very busy few months but an exciting time moving into a new home. Much closer to parks and trails I look forward to exploring and finding all the birds. 🪶 #itsabird
Position 3. Left full-back. For this I chose a bird that doesn’t mess about. The Lesser Black-backed Gull. Pulled this one all the way from Glasgow. 🪶 #itsabird
Position 2. Right full-back. For this I’ve selected a bird adept at finding interesting angles to block the play. The Chestnut-backed Chickadee. 🪶 #itsabird
Love an excuse to revisit my old photos with a theme so gonna try to find a bird that represents each position on the pitch. So starting in position 1, the keeper, my Bird of the Game is the Broad-winged Hawk. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Killdeer. I’ve been happy to see a few this spring in a number of places around the Twin Cities. Cool weird little guys. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Mottled Duck. A gorgeous duck that was found on the southern US coast. Very nice find on a Spring evening. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Hairy Woodpecker. A frequent visitor at my house and always a welcome sight. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Hooded Oriole. This one found in Texas last spring was enticed by the fresh fruit put out daily at a small park right on the coast. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Common Yellowthroat. Found last fall at a nice park where lots of birds were heard and few found at the end of the lens this girl popped out to say hello. #itsabird 🪶
My Bird of the Day today is this duck showing some serious skill balancing on one webbed foot after a serious snooze on a log. 🪶 #itsabird
My Bird of the Day today is the Red-winged Blackbird. This female was basking in some spring sun while perching on a corndog. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Trumpeter Swan. A very elegant and classy bird this one was on the ponds of Crex Meadows in Grantsburg, WI. 🪶 #itsabird
I’m surprised as anyone that I logged my first Ruddy Duck in the Mojave desert when I live in a state/city known for their lakes. 🪶 #itsabird
Back from the desert and didn’t leave empty birded. Though this trip had other priorities it was nice to get out and find some birds far outside the range I’m normally in. My Bird of the Day today was a highlight for me the Gambel’s Quail. How could you not love this ridiculous bird. #itsabird 🪶
Glad to be out of the desert. Good trip with about ten lifers including this Verdin. The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve was really nice and coulda spent longer there if it wasn’t a balmy 92. #itsabird 🪶
My Bird of the Day today is Woodhouse’s Scrub Jay. A top contender for an additional arm tattoo if only I can get a clean portrait of one. I rather liked this photo of it further out in its normal habitat. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the Spotted Towhee. This one found in Utah was very cooperative as we passed it on the trail. 🪶 #itsabird
Today my Bird of the Day is the White-crowned Sparrow. This one was hanging out oceanside in California which isn’t such a bad place to be. 🪶 #itsabird
