This is a great thread. For me, one is when I was very young years old and saw Renoir's "Girl with a hoop." Reproductions do not remotely capture the magical bouncing colors. The canvas vibrates. Years later, it still inspires my approach to color.

Like that whole body & mind swoon, a personal game changer. Mine was in 1988. I was in Manhattan on an art school trip, gallery hopping. I was in The Whitney, exhausted after a day of visiting galleries.
It is excruciating to clip out images for collage when both sides of the page are sensational. Like, what authority have I to breach perfect source material?
