I love how people who defend devs from capital G Gamers celebrating layoffs always go "they didn't have any input on those creative decisions!" when it's like nah, they probably did and the games turned out great because of them and also they don't deserve to be laid off

Saying one of the most prolific live service titles “fell short of expectations” in a massive layoff announcement is a slap in the face to every dev and every player who knows how much Destiny meant in an industry where longevity is rare. Whose expectations did it fail? The investors? The execs?

I just don’t believe video games as a medium are done forever, even if it looks bleak right now. I don’t know what that will look like, and right now I don’t entirely care—I mostly just want everyone to land on their feet as much as they’re able.

Eh how your audience chooses to lessen their experience of your art shouldn’t constrain it. I know of no game where you get the same exact experience watching a stream vs actually playing it. I can watch There Will Be Blood on a phone but to say PT Anderson should’ve cared about that is a bit silly

Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami has reportedly said that if players are satisfied just watching a stream of a game being played, then the game may not be good enough. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/if-play...

If anyone is looking to hire a Peabody and BAFTA winning senior writer, I am looking for work. I’ve got six years experience in games. Everything from indie to AAA. I am not married to staying in games. I am hoping to relocate to the Bay Area. I am keeping my ears to the ground.
