thinking about when guillermo del toro said "since childhood, i've been faithful to monsters. i've been saved and absolved by them, because monsters are the patron saints of our blissful imperfections.”

Also, if the game appears here on anyone's Steam Front page, please send me a screenshot. I know this is a curated list and it's much different than steam "featuring" my game. But it would go a ways towards making me feel better about the effort that went into this release.
ah damn, RIP Margaret Hamilton. she took safety-critical software engineering seriously, and got people to the moon and back. news.mit.edu/2026/margare...
One thing I've learned in life is that whenever someone says "What you have to understand about [some group] is that they're [some description]," the description always applies to all humans everywhere. This from the WSJ is a real classic of this genre: wsj.com/opinion/reve...
one of the things people don't tell you is that you can un-give up. So while it is better not to give up, even if you do, blam, just un-give up. You don't need permission, it's doesn't matter. you used to try and do something but you gave up? it's not permanent. take a break n try again if you want
I’m not smart enough to write a political drama so you get a fantasy world with gay antelope people doing magic shit.
Time to repost my evil goats content, since it's October. (They are bad at their job)
My one marketing goal for the game completely failed. I wanted one small youtuber I used to watch religiously to give 30s of time to something that took me 6 years. On that metric, the game's goddamn worthless. Game launches in 4 days. What's it worth to me? Saying it's done, I guess.
It seems that Balatro dev mentioning Arco during the Game Awards give the game at least a boost in search shows that indie devs needs to have a better support system between them, talk about other indie games during events, help boost indies that are struggling, fight the system as a community.
y'all ever think about how many women in game media have to pivot to being "the indie game person" or hyper-focus on a specific underserved niche because basically 90% of triple-a reviews get assigned to cishet men?
Everyone who was 42 when I was in my 20s is now 45 now that I'm 40. How the fuck did that happen?
store.steampowered.com/app/1706510/... Newly released and discounted today: A charming, quaint adventure rpg with light farming mechanics, a huge cast of characters, and an emphasis on music and exploration. It beats the pants off the crushing nihilism we are all doomed to face alone.

Game gets included in an online festival. Festival asks for a portrait capsule image to display in their template. The one capsule image I have is landscape. Commissioning one portrait capsule for one festival will exceed the expected lifetime profits for the game I spent 6 years on. Fucking wild.
9 days until we launch! Enjoy a 25% discount that will last through the whole of @roguelike.club 's Roguelike Celebration community event.
Don't forget the slow strangulation of the market by the live service behmoths like Fortnite, Minecraft and Roblox.
I keep seeing people throw out the term "Covid Correction" for the mass layoffs we continue to see in the games industry. We're beyond that. It's far beyond the mass hiring during Covid. It's mismanagement, poor trend chasing, cuts of departments to use AI (not as much but happening), etc.
9-figure games with talented teams get single-digit players bc publishers stop vibing. Manipulation and brand recognition suffocate and sap all attention. The stuff the handful of people around me make matters more and more every year.

"A game about healing both townsfolk and political tensions by playing different puzzle games to diagnose ailments and craft potions." 10/10 idea. The puzzles are playing hot/cold and solving block-shape puzzles for toddlers and the characters are the most saccharine stock templates ever. Fuck.
