Dipped out to go feed and visit with a cat and yeah… Stay indoors, Portlanders. 😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️😶‍🌫️

A fire east of Timberline Lodge is creeping to the west, traveling with the wind. They’ve named it Grasshopper. There’s a strange anxiousness knowing the places I love will never remain as I’ve come to love them. I suppose there’s a lesson about impermanence to ponder on. There is still grief.

I’m off to check in on a kitty, then to meet with a potential pet-sit client. I just booked another pet-sit in September! Next week, I’m watching my old dog Steinbeck. I may not have space in my life for my own pet, but I am SO thankful to have so many other people’s fur babes to love on!

Journaling today reminded me that I should keep vigilant over how much energy I’m devoting to things I cannot change - wildfires - the rise of AI - national/global politics Keeping tabs on where my attention is devoted is crucial to managing my overall mental health.

An argument being used to sell data centers is labor and jobs. Specifically, construction jobs. Builders want work 100% I get that. They can also build: - housing - transportation infrastructure - heath care facilities - green energy facilities “These data centers bring jobs” is such a fallacy

Crunchy air is crunchy, and the 70s/Pre-EPA lighting is also happening. AQI: 68 (noticeable smoke, not terrible) We really don’t need every hour to be Golden Hour.

Raw-dogging the store for glue because my glasses frames broke at the gym was a reminder that distance vision is a marvel one should never take for granted.

The wind is gonna change out there, Portland. Be aware 😶‍🌫️🌫️😶‍🌫️ For me, this means glasses instead of contacts, my inhaler, and an N95 at the ready (will be working outside later today)

So, this happened last night, and like a good weirdo, I’m currently enjoying learning about the cultural and magical significance of a plate breaking. Humans attribute the most amazing things to such mundanity, and I am happy to be among them ☺️

From the archives, five years ago, and today #mcm — This before/after set won’t show you how much growth has happened on the inside, but it’s there, and today, I’m allowing for a bit of pride about it 💪🏼 Onwards, indeed, and may this week bring us all a bit more clarity 🩶🔥

An earlier chat has sparked need for some grace & care for my heart today. There’s still tenderness around my past relationship in there, and when noticed, it has a tendency to be like a mist throughout my day. I’m thankful for the capacity to see, feel, and recognize when I need to slow down.

Welp? Today doesn’t feel like a full-battery lift. I have a guess at the factors at play, and will check my own data later, but for now? Imma just follow bodily instincts and move on vibes. ✨🩶

Did I just apply to be a 2027 USFS Fire Lookout in any of the manned towers here in Oregon? Yes. Yes, I did. — I am fully aware that I am most likely the least qualified candidate (based on skills/training), but taking action, even as a long-shot, is still action taken ✨

Current self to Former self: THANK YOU 🍓🍓🍓 — A generous dollop of the strawberry preserve I made a few weeks ago is adding the perfect ✨ to my oatmeal today

Last week, in a profound act of generosity, I was offered a place to live that would cut my rent in half. Last night, I mentioned this to my housemate, and spoke gingerly about the offer. He texted me, after our chat, to remind me that my time here is open, without obligation…
