She is made with a mix of hand and machine sewing and features a ton of applique and embroidery details. Her feathers were a challenge but I tried something new this time and absolutely love it.
Any artists out there who can do furries and historically accurate clothing? I don't have money now, but lacking good art of the characters from Dragon's Blood has started to annoy me, and come end of August I should have *some*. Alternately, I'm always willing to consider trades.
The troodontid gods do have factions, though they're not oppositional, they're just different. The first are the primordial gods, forces like Death, that have existed for eons. The second are the young gods, the ones that came into being when the troodontid people did, such as Dance. 🧵

AMEN! Also many things that *look* intimidating and tricky really aren't, when you try them? There are always depths of detail, things you can learn over decades to become a master, but then again I once taught various cousinlings ages 5-10 how to sew furry tails in about an hour, and all succeeded!

Literally anything you make is better than ai. There’s never been a better time to throw away your fear and start learning that craft you’ve always wanted to learn.
Adrien would probably be "Brutally honest" but he'd need an editor to cut the self-recriminations out of certain sections, otherwise the book would get very bogged down in them. He wouldn't be able to resist playing up the drama of a few specific incidents, though. He doesn't see himself as a hero,

In my Troodontid/PaleoDeath story, the gods aren't concerned with what we humans would call morality. They represent primal forces and powers, aspects of life, things that just ARE. There is no no "evil." There's life and death, light and dark, but night isn't evil and day isn't good.

I need to remember to take a photo of the produce share table one of these weeks. Today it was PACKED. I bet we had 20+ lbs of plums alone! And the only thing I came home with was some sage and a dozen or so green pears. I worried for a bit I'd be drowning in plums, but they all got taken.
The Troodontid dinosaur people of my Death Through Deep Time story believe in gods because those gods are real and present! Death is the protagonist of the story, but more significant gods include Light, Dark/Void, Dance, Hunt, Verdure, Swift, and many more. Pictured is how some of them see Death.

Dragon's Blood has several religions, but Adrien isn't religious. Death Through Deep Time, well, it begins with the literal embodiment of Death, long before mortals discovered and worshiped it. But eventually they know and name it. Though it's NOT their foremost god, just the one this tale is about.

I really like being a Unitarian Universalist.❤️ I could go on about it, but right now it's enough to know that my church is celebrating Lughnasadh, the Celtic festival of the first harvest. Not because most of them are pagan, but because a *few* are, and that means everyone will celebrate with us.
GODS I hope Dragon's Blood finds a publisher and some readers. I won't say it's my best work, but it's absolutely up there. (Best work is really hard to say, and depends on what you like? The Sacrifice probably stands as my best overall narrative, but there are other stories with better parts.)
I keep loving these questions, because they're asking about normal-people stuff, that normal people do, and then I go "Well, Adrien killed his last ex in a duel, so no, he's not gonna see her again." I love my horrible little fucked-up guy. :D

I'd say in Dragon's Blood there are two antagonists, because the primary one is Adrien himself. But there is another one, it's just less obvious until towards the end. (Yup, the book as a twist. Maybe two.) So he's VERY close to one, and the other is...around. And definitely studying him.

Talking about dreams with the goober just now, which got me thinking. The stereotypical nightmare involves an outside actor (a monster) trying to harm you. But in my nightmares, I mostly need to do something important, and fail at it. The only "monster" is myself. I wonder which is more common?

Ugh, today is going to be a "nevermind, I do not have the spoons to argue, I'm just gonna delete the hot take" kinda day. Everybody I usually like and every place I usually find pleasant is just full of fucking bullshit today, is what it feels like.
My camera roll is still at least 50% kittens, lol. They're SO CUTE! And they're already like twice the size they were when we got them! I'm harness training them so we can take them outside at some point. Just the one harness, they take turns wearing it.
Continuing my quest to find a specific #paleoart book. Does anybody know a speculative (before hard evidence) book about feathers on theropod dinosaurs. Came out early to mid 90s, and had very "soft" (watercolor?) illustrations. I specifically remember two velociraptors peacefully napping.
