The SPBotânica is pleased to share the description of a new species for Science, recently published by Jorge Capelo and Udo Schwarzer. This is Euphorbia vincentina Schwarzer & Capelo ("maleiteira-da-costa-vicentina") an endemic plant of SW Portugal, discovered in the coastal areas of this region. 📄

A new #toadflax endemic to Almada (#Portugal) !!! A new species, Linaria almadensis, has been described from the cliffs of Gargalo do Tejo, in Almada, just across from Lisbon. Although first collected in 1843, it was only recently recognized as distinct by João Farminhão during a taxonomic revision.

The cover image features a volume rendering reconstructed from an X-ray microcomputed tomography scan, depicting the glochidiate, epizoochorous, eremocarpic fruit of the widespread Lappula squarrosa (Retz.) Dumort. Boraginales exhibit remarkable diversity in fruit morphology, ranging from dehiscent capsules to various indehiscent fruits, with dispersal units differing in seed and pericarp integration (e.g., mericarpids, endomericarpids). In this issue, Vasile et al. focus on the systematics of Boraginales using the Angiosperms353 probe set and anatomical and ontogenetic data of fruits.
