Adley deal, in a vacuum, is a HAUL for the O's. But if the alternative is they get nothing, is that worse? See 2025. Can't make the O's take less for Adley. They clearly looked at other options based on the reporting. Can still hate it. I might? Just a bigger perspective.

Yowza. #2 (Eyanson), 3 (Witherspoon), & 6 (Azocar) prospects in the #SP60 in the deal, with Azocar moving up at least one spot with Bennett graduating in our update this week. Plus Narvaez who was almost a 3-win player last year, but has struggled in 2026. That's a haul for O's.

Per sources: The Red Sox are getting Rutschman and Jake Rogers as well as cash for Anthony Eyanson, Enddy Azocar, Kyson Witherspoon, and Carlos Narváez.

Greenville, on both sides of the ball, strikes me as the level from which we may see the Red Sox look to deal from. Loaded lineup and the rotation runs something like 7-9 deep depending on how generous your definition of "interesting" is. First use of that depth here.

The Red Sox are sending LHP Jojo Ingrassia to the Tigers as the player to be named in the Jahmai Jones trade. Ingrassia had a 3.27 ERA and 33 percent strikeout rate in High-A Greenville this year.

LHP Jojo Ingrassia is probably a better player than I thought they'd give up for Jones. But he has a long injury history: Missed most of May with an elbow strain. Missed May-Sept 2025 in part due to a shoulder injury. Missed a month in 2024 with left elbow inflammation.

Potential that today will be a very busy day on the farm. Deadline day for the Hicks PTBNLs (2 out, 1 in), Schaffner and Hull headed to Greenville (per Andrew Parker), Cespedes to Portland (also Andrew). Could see more moves to get the draftees on the DRL as well.

As the deadline approaches, I wouldn't be surprised if the Red Sox move 1 or 2 low-minors catchers out of necessity. They have 3 guys each in High-A and Low-A they probably want to get innings, five of whom probably should be in Greenville. Maybe 1 to CWS as a PTBNL?

As the deadline approaches, remember there are 2 pending outgoing PTBNLs and 1 pending incoming PTBNL from the Hicks/Sandlin/Ziehl trade with the White Sox. They're due to be exchanged by 8/1. Also, the PTBNL going to Detroit for Jones is outstanding, of course.

Some injury news: IF Henry Godbout (#SP60 #8) is expected to begin rehab games next week, potentially with Salem but perhaps at the complex. He's been out since May 30 with a broken hand from a HBP that required surgery. He was hitting .277/.410/.492 before the injury.

Why Alec Gamboa was only added as the 27th man for game 2 today while, for example, he was added for both games last Friday: The 27th player isn't eligible for the 1st game if the postponement was earlier in the same series, unless the teams agree otherwise. No idea why that is.

RHP Sadbiel Delzine (#SP60 #10) has been promoted from the FCL (which ends on Thursday and where he'd likely made his last start anyway) to Salem. 39.2 IP, 2.72 ERA, 43 K, 18 BB, 1.06 WHIP on the season.

I love this from SP forum poster Incandeza: The Red Sox bonuses were roughly equivalent to slot for picks: 49 (Schaffner) 50 (Mataczynski) 61 (Shelar) 71 (Hull) 93 (LaFavor) BOS had picks 20, 67, & 96. So it's as if they traded back from 20 for 3 late 2nds: ~ 49, 50, & 61.

$1.5m signing bonus for 9th-rd pick Martin Shelar, reported by @ChrisCotillo and @AriA1exander, looks like a record for that round, after checking the B-Ref and Baseball America draft databases. Previous record was Clay Holmes at $1.2m in 2011.
