The defence spending commitment is a plan to spend a lot of money, with details of what it will achieve to follow. A key aim is to not be invaded, but beyond that the details begin to waver.

a lot of ai maximalists view themselves as Big Ideas people. their great obstacle in life is the creatives who refuse to quickly and cheaply create their vision.

seems europeans missed that the "spend what you're supposed to on defense" was the american position of eight years ago. that deal is gone already. that's not a valid bargaining chip when america now feels that the anti-deterrent effect of european non-spending has already come due

warnings from teachers that kids don't read and have their essays written by bots will always summon to my mind the letter written by an old monk complaining that the kids don't study and can barely read latin anymore.
