TOS S1 E5 "The Enemy Within" River: While Shatner's performance is admirable, the sexual assault hangs so heavy over the episode it makes it impossible to like. 40% Alice: I like how they figure it out relatively early, but oof. not good. first transporter accident! 30%
TOS S1 E4 "The Naked Time" River: While this episode does fall short on fundamentals, the acting is outstanding, fuck yeah Sulu, and I get Kirk/Spock now. 90% Alice: Silly fun! I love that it gives K&S the "monologue about my innermost trauma/drives" disease. 85%
It does really annoy me that there's no tagging system on bluesky. It'd be so good if there was a simple easy way to just scroll through our actual episode reviews, and skip the faff, but, unless I tag everything #somefuckinghashtaginthisfashion then, what's one to do? Tumblr solves this problem.
TOS S1 E3 "Where No Man Has Gone Before" River: A rather trite story, that lacks anything along the lines of a satisfying payoff, or interesting themes. 30% Alice: Much more classic sci-fi, and the story still has shades of Forbidden Planet. Fun though 70%
TOS S1 E2 "Charlie X" River: If I watched this as a child, it would have hit me like a freight train. Genuinely disturbing. Very well done. 80% Alice: Feels derivative, even for the first time. Teenage boys are objectively a bad thing. 25%

Fun fact: we have a Highly Advanced Spreadsheet for tracking our watch order, and, according to that, we'll be watching the last two episodes of TAS and half of the opening two-parter of the Next Generation on the same day. (next July) I think this is probably the way Jean intended it. - River
TOS S1 E1 "The Man Trap" River: A remarkably competently told mystery, though rough, with some standout performances. Kirk and Bones need each other carnally. 70% Alice: Yay, it's Trek now: the misunderstood monster, Bones' attachment, the shape-shifter mystery. 70%
TOS Pilot, The Cage: River: Fascinatingly awful television, a treacly pabulum. I have read porn less clumsily forwardly erotic. I like Number 1, though. 15% Alice: It's a nice try at making Forbidden Planet on a (big) TV budget, but it's not Star Trek. 35%
Alice has made a reference to the musical Hamilton. During almost-kinda-not-really lost pilot The Cage. As one tends to do. - River

Fun fact: our current estimate is that it will take around seven years to watch Star Trek. A duration that I am very sure has no other significance to the franchise. - River
I was going to run a poll as to which Star Trek show has the best episode titles, but, evidently they don't have those on Bluesky. So, discussion question for the class, which is it? (bonus, what episode from that show has the best title?) - River
A genuinely concerning amount of our follower-base seem to be actually into star trek.
