I live in St. Paul. Words are failing me. But I’m trying to find comfort in small moments of solidarity: these stickers in my apartment building’s entryway, a small group of 7 gathered on our corner for last night’s vigil.

A sticker that says Minnesota Nice but Fuck ICE. A tator tot, sitting on top of a hot dish, is giving the finger. A small group of individuals hold light candles on a street corner at night surrounded by snowdrifts for a vigil.

I made it to L133 (page 479/1499 in this edition) a few years ago but am trying again in real time with @clarissa2025.bsky.social. Unclear how my copy is already so destroyed from that read though 😂 Might have to tape the cover and spine so it doesn’t split in half like my copy of Les Mis did.

A well worn copy of Richardson’s Clarissa with a snowy window and plants on the ledge in the background
