Happy International Autism Pride Now more than ever we need to be more open about autistic lived experiences and for non-autistic people to listen and extend compassion so that one day the stigma against us, and the system created to make us fail, will come to an end.

To the autistic person who was hated at point blank without even being given a chance because you were "too much" or innocent behaviours and attempts to mask and emulate acceptable mannerisms came off as "uncanny" or ill intent was assumed of you and never privately addressed to allow you to reassure people otherwise... To the autistic person who constantly hears people misusing autistic/neurodivergent terminology in front of you and you try to teach them otherwise and it doesn't stick... To the autistic person who was treated like a clicker trained dog on the playground when you were a kid, constantly being told to "do that thing" which you easily did because you thought you was approved of and that people liked you but they actually did it to laugh at you instead because in those people's eyes, you were "the freak" when all you did was experience autistic joy openly... To the autistic person suffering with social trauma because you got branded as "using autism as a crutch" when bringing it up in a serious discussion when no... it wasn't being used as a crutch, you were trying to say "Hey, I need you to tell me the details in a way so that I can understand and then improve" only to be refused of that grace because of the harmful "I don't owe you shit" mentality being glorified in present day giving no room for patience or compassion towards us. To the autistic person who was told "You're being very open about your autism and talking about it a lot, aren't you?" passive aggressively when our existence is so damn stigmatised that we actually DO need to talk more and teach people because compassion is sorely lacking and needs to be learned. To the autistic person that sees non-autistic people constantly breaking rules without repercussion but the moment the autistic person breaks the rule unintentionally, it's taken extremely seriously, leading you to question the injustice and why we have to protect our peace so hard and move in constant silence while others get…
