For a moment Ifan's grip tightens around his arm as he leans further into Lejo's embrace, and then he looks up, dark eyes wet with tears.

"Can I go to him now?"

Lejo strokes his hair and nods, giving him a reassuring smile, then helps to haul him out of the bath. He has Ifan sit on the edge and hold his shoulders while he towels him down, then follows him up the stairs with his arms out in case he tips back. Thankfully, Ifan seems stable on his own now, and he crawls into bed almost on top of Zhett, who trills half-awake as he feels his familiar bulk at his side. From across the floor, Lejo hears a shift in his breathing: there's a faint rumble in each exhale, a contented purr as their arms and legs entwine.

"Happy?" Lejo asks them, a fond smile on his face, and Ifan makes a contented noise in the affirmative directly into Zhett's neck. It's all Lejo needs; he turns back towards the stairs, mentally listing off the chores still to do. Draining the bath, throwing out the bandages, washing the sheets... it'll keep him busy while the two of them rest, then when they're up and strong enough for it he'll tear them both a new one and tell them to bring him along next time they have a job like that.

He barely makes it halfway across the floor before one of them objects.

"Where're you off to?" Zhett mumbles, and when he looks over his shoulder it's to the sight of Ifan holding up the blanket, space enough for a third to slide in behind him.

"Hurry up, Thumper. This is killing my arm," the magician quips, and Lejo can't help but huff out a laugh. He looks at them both again–happy, cozy, warm and safe–then down the stairs, where a pile of chores awaits him.

It's not a hard choice.

"I'm actually impressed," Ardbert commented, eyeing J'qupoh. He leaned back slightly, out of habit more than a need for comfort.

"Huh?" His voice reached Poh as if from the other end of a long tunnel. Slowly, his senses returned to him, and he found himself looking down at the crumbs dotting the once neatly folded napkin that lined the bottom of a now-empty basket.

"The sandwiches," Ardbert elaborated. "Killing a Lightwarden must work up quite the appetite! I wasn't expecting you to finish all of those in one sitting. That, or the Exarch is as good at cooking as he is at being inscrutable – though I suppose it's rather hard to muck up sandwiches."

"Oh," Poh said simply. Truthfully, he hadn't been expecting himself to scarf down the entire basket. He hadn't intended to. He wanted to savor them; they represented one of those little touches of care that he appreciated from the Crystal Exarch. He found it touching that, despite the magnitude of their troubles and his many responsibilities, the man had taken the time to ensure that Poh had a fresh meal. Such a small but endearing gesture. Unfortunately, it appeared he had been been hungrier than he expected. He certainly hadn't felt hungry after slaying Titania – he'd left the faerie castle with a sloshing nausea. Maybe that had been an empty stomach. Or all of the fae magic. Or both.

"Well, they were delicious." He tried to laugh it off with good cheer. His ear twitched a little – it wasn't a lie, but if he was being honest, he barely remembered tasting them. What he did remember had been good, though. He would have to find a way to express his appreciation to the Exarch later. Maybe he could return the favor. What sort of food would a man like him prefer? Someone had to know something of his tastes. Surely, he wasn't so secretive about every aspect of his life.
