i experience an immense joy watching our tarantula rearrange his substrate and pat it down in new places with his paws. every night turning my desk light off and going 'goodnight, i am excited to see your new house tomorrow' and waking up to see where hes moved everything. arachnids are the best

lupis and I have been having some wacky bird encounters though. we saw a freaking /woodcock/ the other day foraging and shuffling (thought it was a squirrel) then tried to barely take off in the air in front of the trail. looked like a potato

last year we had birds nest in our door wreath and this year we had another finch family come and go and then. a different finch family built on top of that nest GDHCYJK. we noticed one of the babies was absolutely humongus (and the egg was different then the others) so oh cool, cowbird!

i really do think that looking at dy'neth then hearing that he sounds like a unfortunate 5am wharf dweller is 1) Endearing 2) but not at all what he sounds like when communicating with people mentally (but i think its interchangeable from person to person, when layering over internal dialogue)

omg one of the things i didn't specify on dy'neth's ref sheet at the time was the mouth bc i didn't know if i wanted to go with the lamprey style mouth, a beak, or a lower jaw.. i've never looked close enough to see it was more of a lower jaw type in-game 🔍👀

(ffxiv) (oc lore yapping) also just fun exploring my hc concept of like, the third shard (the one olyzas is from!) having biology more 'dinosaur' extreme adjacencies!!! (like having feathers & fur!!!) tho like.
