August’s Dogs of the Cathedral Calendar model is Norman, the German Shepherd/German Pointer cross who looks like neither! Norman was a one-shot wonder and took home the most obedient model award! Dogs are welcome at the Cathedral, if they are well-behaved and, on a lead. 🐕‍🦺

English Heritage is inviting the public to a free Conservation in Action Day in the Abbey Gardens on Wednesday 5 August, 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. A rare opportunity to see skilled conservation specialists at work. Families are especially welcome, with children's activities running throughout the day.

The Cathedral Choir have returned from their tour of Sweden! Highlights of the trip included their three concerts in Södertälje, Uppsala and Stockholm, as well as singing as part of a Eucharist. They also visited Skansen, the world's oldest open-air museum, and the Vasa Shop Museum.

Abbey Gardens Labyrinth Afternoons will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Labyrinths are structures used as a spiritual exercise. You'll find it behind the ruins of the abbey crypt, near the playground. Canon Mark will be available during this time.

All Saints Episcopal Church Choir from Jacksonville, Florida, USA, will be our visiting choir from July 13-19, joining us for services. Do come along and support them while they're here!

The Ukrainian Community in Bury St Edmunds has been meeting every weekend at the Cathedral to connect with their cultural heritage at the newly formed Ukrainian Hub. Last weekend they were joined by the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and our own Canon Katy to celebrate their remarkable start.

Today the church remembers and give thanks for St Benedict, who is remembered as the Father of Western Monasticism. Whilst he never intended to start a widespread monastic order, his Rule for Monks was so good that it become the model for Western Monasticism.
