The only thing better than sitting out in the garage in an office chair and watching the rain is sitting out on a covered porch in a rocking chair and watching the rain. I wish I had the covered porch though I'm not complaining about the garage.

My first year checkup after being diagnosed as seizure prone: "Good work, Steve. Keep it up. It'll most likely kill you in the morning." In the meantime, let's go one more year. Who knows, maybe I'm just a walking base-state seizure. I was always different.

Dear TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube producers, If you're employing the giant captions so that only 3 or 4 words at a time can fit on the screen, or even the smaller ones that track right across the middle of the video, I'm giving you just as long as it takes to find the Exit button.

I went to my writing critique group's retreat a few weeks ago, a weekend thing. I wrote a little over 8000 words in two days. During that same time, my wife (back at home) read 6 books. I'm just not working fast enough.

I've come to see movies first from the library. Because every movie people have raved about over the last several years has been, to me, pretty bland vanilla. Dune, Superman, The Martian, Project Hail Mary. Now I'm suspicious of The Odyssey. Crowd sourcing just ain't working out.

Got caught up with a fellow retired couple. Talked long about theirs and our grown-ass kids screwing up the simplest life matters while refusing to ask their parents how this wheel thing is made. The cycle, or scratch-skip*, of life... *That's a record player reference. Don't worry about it.
