I try to put straight lines through things but usually fail. Try to be Bayesian when I can. Views my own. RT/like != endorsement.

I'm so happy to announce version 2.0.0 of my #Rstats package WeightIt is out on CRAN! New features: censoring weights, multilevel propensity scores, improved weights for continuous treatments, bias-reduced ordinal and multinomial models, M-estimation in subgroups Check out the website below!

Weighting for Covariate Balance in Observational Studies

Generates balancing weights for causal effect estimation in observational studies with binary, multi-category, or continuous point or longitudinal treatments by easing and extending the functionality ...

Hey #rstats: Is there a way in Positron to view variables outside the Global Environment? In Rstudio I'll frequently change the focus environment in the environment pane to explore the contents of loaded packages, but I can't figure out how to do that in Positron. 🤔 @ivelasq3.bsky.social ?

There's an interesting tension here. If humans have name for it, then it's a social construct. But some social constructs are us trying to make sense of the world around us (e.g., ADHD, carnivores, sleep), and others are wholly constructed by us (e.g., the law, the market, the nation-state).

Something can be both a brute fact and a social construct. The distance between points A and B? Brute fact. Unit of measurement to describe the distance (cm, inches, rods, parsecs)? Social construction. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Really a job title, filled by whoever is currently putting lines through things, until they fail and are replaced by the next guy. Stephen Wild, the James Bond of Bayesians.

And the reason people socially construct brute facts is that those constructions allow us to coordinate action. If we don't have units of measure, we can't easily give each other directions. If we don't have labels for symptom clusters like ADHD, we can't easily develop treatments or policies.
