I am old enough to remember when the Tigers used to do stuff like trade for David Price when they already had Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander making a ton of money. because they used to have an owner who prioritized winning a World Series over maximizing profits. They can do that, in fact!

Those of you eager to serve wealthy MLB owners as volunteer Pinkertons won’t like to read this, but as usual Joe Sheehan nails the real problem:

Joe Sheehan: This trade is a microcosm of the real problem MLB has faced for decades. It’s not about haves and have-nots, but wants and want-nots. The Dodgers, and teams like them, want to win more than teams like the Tigers do, so they go out and acquire the Tigers’ best pitcher. MLB has built an entire labor strategy and media campaign around demonizing the Dodgers, when in fact it’s the Tigers who are wrecking baseball. You have to be through the looking glass to think the sport’s problem is the team that’s trying to win rather than the team that’s trading Tarik Skubal while sitting 2 1/2 games out of a playoff spot.

that one NY sports radio host, who's very weird about Joe Davis (started after Joe said, "ohhh the Mets!" that one night) is sitting in front of the broadcast booths tonight. So, he had a front row seat for that 3rd inning. it was too perfect.

Our oldest “graduated” pre-K at his Japanese School today. Being in NY, I had to watch a Zoom feed. His class walked out in caps and gowns. And yeah, I was unprepared for the levels of unwell that I reached 😭😭😂
