Something I missed in this reporting... Brandon Herrera said in 2023: “Just because you let somebody creampie you doesn’t mean I have to give a shit about your political opinions. The fact that you kept your cum trophy doesn’t make you any less wrong about the dumb shit they say.” His response...

For @texasobserver.org, I did a deep dive into Brandon Herrera, a gunfluencer and now Republican congressional nominee who has spread memes associated the extremist Boogaloo movement and rationalized lethal violence against people with certain political beliefs. www.texasobserver.org/brandon-herr...

In 2022, I noted that Steven Crowder accepted an invitation from a woman in North Texas who has described herself as a Christian Fascist and wondered whether he aligned himself with her group's ideology. Now we don't have to wonder.

I’ve been doing some in-depth reporting on the Prairieland cases, and had to get this out first as I continue to dig: I spoke with Ana Bell, sister of Des, who it turns out co-owns and runs an indie bookstore. We talked about the case, the judge, book banning, ICE killings, and living through this:

My Brother Was Sentenced to 30 Years for Moving a Box of Zines

The sister of a defendant in the Prairieland case, which targeted Texas ICE protesters, speaks out.

BREAKING NYT: Federal agents around the country were told in recent days that the FBI would no longer investigate confrontations with immigration agents — cases that sometimes yield evidence that could be used to prosecute DHS agents implicated in violent encounters.

Checking in on the documents I received in response to a FOIA request I sent to ICE in May 2025 that sought a copy of a document that had been routinely shared with immigration lawyers until my reporting relied on it to identify an ICE prosecutor as the operator of a white supremacist X account
