You probably don't know but before 1964 nobody owned the seas surrounding the UK. They were common land. In 1964 they were all given to the King, so now all the Wind Turbines and Oil Rigs in the UK pay rent to him. They should all be placed back under Government control. It's a scam.

Important to understand: Tom hasn’t *just recently* taken a job promoting and protecting the interests of Labour’s corporate friends, by getting his journo mates to print articles bigging up their business and shitting all over the left. That was always his job.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.

Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.

Where @metpolice.bsky.social are anti-terrorist police arresting these terror spreading thugs when you need them Didn't you know they were going to Dover? Have you spent too many resources infiltrating Animal Rights groups or worrying about people who don't like genocide & child mass murder ...

As someone who has been tweeted about personally by Rowling. And who spends my whole life trying to fight the damage caused by the litigation she funds. I think, personally, I would be less harmed by you giving me an actual kick in the ribs than watching the new Harry Potter & trying to justify it.

As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.

Is this a Mandela effect or is it just me, I'd swear until about 2-3yrs ago, I'd only ever heard the word data used as a singular, now it's consistently used in the plural. Eg "The data are in tact"

Over on Whatever today, I'm talking about "AI" and creativity and how, when it comes to learning creative skills, Generative "AI" is rather like the old "Guitar Hero" game, i.e., a really fun way not to actually learn how to do a creative thing: whatever.scalzi.com/2026/08/06/g...
