Taking this excellent article at a tangent, I've been wondering whether any state might be first to "nationalise" fertility as a response to falling birth rates and changing life goals; any births versus none, eugenics versus bathwater. Happy Halloween, btw. www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

What are the odds that Starlink and Starshield use the same physical hardware or overlapping hardware (or might be assumed to by anyone with the capability to destroy those satellites)? ...not to mention "defensive", like US flights from UK bases.

Elon Musk @elonmusk

This is indeed one of the main reasons that Starlink must remain a civilian operation.

It can be used for infrastructure that is military, but it cannot be used for unequivocally offensive strikes that make it fair game to be struck back.

An adversary blowing up Starlink satellites would create a domino effect of destruction that would generate a vast field of debris making space unusable.

UK offering Freedom of Movement would be the game changer for conversations with the EU, one of the trio of people, pounds and positivity I identified earlier this year as crucial to any significant move to removing barriers.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 Serhiy "Flash": It is very strange that Elon Musk does not know about the restrictions on Starlink operation in Ukraine. 1. Starting from the winter of 2026, all StarLink terminals over the territory of Ukraine (including occupied territories) have a speed limit of 70-90 km/h.

The level of right-of-centre interest in going for single market is massively under-reported 7/10 Conservatives would like single market in principle, 47% of Conservatives can take free movement to get it! A majority (63%) of Reform voters say open to single market: 39% can even accept FoM!

A reminder that Russia’s economy is roughly the size of Texas’s. The United States spent trillions confronting Soviet imperialism during the Cold War. Russia lost. Decisively. There is no reason whatsoever for the US govt to fawn over Putin and treat Russia as though it were America’s equal.

It shouldn’t bother me so much, but when people use ‘one bad apple’ they never complete the thought ‘spoils the whole barrel’. In other words it typically doesn’t mean what is intended, but it’s the unintended, correct, meaning that is typically true, in sweet revenge for linguistic purists.
