I visited Auschwitz-Birkenau. At one point there's a perspex box full of children's shoes. I couldn't help thinking about the tiny, innocent feet that once walked in those shoes. I was powerfully affected. I cried in public. Now I wonder how many children's shoes are buried in Gaza.
