Not Thinking What you Think I'm Thinking (journal page)
Spent two hours at The Couth Buzzard in Greenwood, Seattle. Very cool place I'd never visited.#urbansketchers #seattle #watercolor #drawing
From today’s USk meet-up at the Ballard Locks. I should know better than to sit in the direct sun in July in a long-sleeved turtleneck sweater. It was cool when I left home. #urbansketchers #ballard #locks #drawing
The vault door at Blonde Salon, Seattle. I walked by this salon every day for years and thought about drawing this door, left from when the space was a bank. Finally pulled the trigger. #urbansketchers #drawing #vault #watercolor

The Pumpkin Tree. In college I dated, briefly, a gal who kept a Christmas tree up year-round with pumpkins under it. For my birthday she drew a card that showed the Spirit of Christmas handing the Easter Bunny a Valentine.
Here Come Da Judge. When I was 7, the most popular show was Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In. Sammy Davis Jr. would cross the screen in a white wig and black robe chanting, “Here come da judge. Here come da judge.” I think about that occasionally when I’m noodling in my journal.
Sir Walter Wally. He used to be my constant companion until his stoopid mom got a stoopid boyfriend to watch him when she travels. #goldenretriever #dog #watercolor
Olympia Pizza, Broadway & Musqueemview, Vancouver. As I sketched, a little old lady came up and asked what I was doing. I told her I was visiting from Seattle to sketch. “An American, huh?” she said. “Are you a good one or a bad one?” I assured her I was a good one.
Once a month 50 or so artists meet at Hugo House in Seattle to complete a page for a zine we pick up at the next meeting. I like to go in with no idea what I'll draw and just see what happens.
Caffe Vita, Seattle. I enjoy chatting with curious looky-loos while sketching. Here’s to IRL encounters.
Seattle Pacific University where 30 yrs ago I earned my teaching cert. It’s a mile from my house yet I’ve never drawn here before today.
