Writer and agency head. Talking about books, tv/film, cars and horse racing. First novel, The Killing Fraternity, is out now! Jack Reacher meets James Bond.

Let’s say we placed a 50% tax on footballer sales. Clubs would still pay £100m. But fans would benefit from better services. Or do we just pretend there aren’t record amounts spent on millionaires and Rolls Royces and Ferraris… And that somehow it’s my job to pay more tax??

Fuck me. We chat like we’re still at peace. We’re not. Russia is at war with Europe. Just because doodlebugs aren’t falling on Streatham Woolworths. We are at war. And the sooner we start to behave like it, the more likely we are to win. And the fewer people will die.

Good of Andrew Bailey to warn about AI market corrections but not to acknowledge the ludicrous indebtedness of countries who have simply shovelled wealth to billionaires and companies with inadequate taxation. Our entire economy is now a sandcastle. And the tide is coming back in…

Rewatched Cars. Could be one of the best coming of age stories ever made. If #Disney wants to recapture their magic, I wonder if they shouldn’t bring Lassiter back or make Pete Docter their CEO. Too much focus on money today and not enough on the magic of storytelling.

Just been to see my local MP. Given the volume of people who appear to want to shape democracy from their keyboard, you’d expect more than 5 people to turn up to actually influence democracy… And one of them (me) was only there to say hello because we sat on the Parish Council together.

Look. I don’t know how else to say this. TAX THE FUCKING BILLIONAIRES, THEIR ASSETS AND COMPANIES PROPERLY BEFORE THEIR UNFATHOMABLE WEALTH KILLS US ALL. There is money for everything. They’re simply hoarding it all.

The Fire Brigades Union told Sky News that recent investment in firefighting resources was "a drop in the ocean" compared with what is needed to deal with growing threats from wildfires.

Oisin Murphy is a such a knowledgeable and eloquent jockey. Really considered. His demons aside, we should get him on the media more often. Punters love this kind of insight.

I don’t like to moan about jockeys but Time for Sandals was run up the backside of every horse before flying home full of running… I just don’t think there are any jockeys in the class of Ryan Moore. It’s him and then the rest.

It can’t be that hard to shift to electricity generated by renewables. But we make it much harder by: Taxing electricity too highly Charging too much for train journeys Charging to much for public car charging Charging too much for electricity Not insisting every new home has renewables built in.

Nothing ‘escalates’ a war like starting one by illegally annexing and then invading a neighbour. Give the Ukrainians everything we’ve got. Putin only understands one language. He has poisoned more people than Stalin. He is a tyrant who should swing for his crimes.

In the Industrial Revolution a few factory owners became very rich at the expense of their workers, until the workers revolted to demand better conditions, to exploitation. In the digital age, a few programmers have become very rich at the expense of all workers… What to do? 🤷‍♂️
