BNSF 5676 is a GE AC44CW. Reportedly: it was built in 2004, builders number 63246.

The real Southern Pacific (SP) 9016 was a Kraus-Maffei, ML-4000, SP Class DF-801. Reportedly: it became SP Class KF636-1 and SP 9119. It was built in 1964, construction number 19112. It was retired in 1967 and scrapped.
My model of SP 9016 is an Overland brass model.

The real SP 9016 was a Kraus-Maffei, ML-4000, SP Class DF-801. Reportedly: it became SP Class KF636-1 and SP 9119. It was built in 1964, construction number 19112. It was retired in 1967 and scrapped. My model of SP 9016 is an Overland Brass model.

SP 5317 was an EMD SD39, SP Class EF623-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1968 by EMD, builders number 34012. In 1994 it was renumbered 5298 to make room for D&RGW SD45s.
The disposition of this locomotive was: retired in 1999 and scrapped in 2002.

SP 6854 was an EMD SD45T-2 (SD45T-2R), SP Class EF636LR-8. Reportedly: it was built in 1972 builder number 7348-02 as SSW SD45T-2 9158, SP Class EF636C-6. In 1988 it was upgraded and became SP 6854. It became UP 4794 then UP 2826. In 1999 it was retired.

SP 5308 was an EMD SD39, SP Class EF623-1. Reportedly: it was built in 1968, builders number 34006.

The disposition of this locomotive was: retired in 1995 and sold in 1996 to Progress Rail. According to conflicting sources: Sold in 1999 to National Railway Equipment. Rebuilt to SD40-2M. Leased to UP, 4763. Renumbered to UP 2810 in 2001. Retired in 2002. Other Reporting marks and numbers reported as associated with this serial number may include CEFX 2810 and WAMX 4218.

Paul Young said, "Switching the West end of the yard. I see the old Union 76 gas station in the background. This is probably the Mojave shorts (LAMJY) setting out & switching it's train. Once that was completed, they would assemble the outbound (MJLAY) train and head East, provided they didn't die on the law. The LAMJY/MJLAY would often have work to do in Palmdale and/or Lancaster. Two Union Pacific (UP) ALCo RS-27s headed towards Weed on a westbound train on Saturday, Sep. 5, 2026, at the California Central Model Railroad Club (CCMRC) in the historic Agnew depot in Santa Clara, CA. These are Proto 2000 models.
The real UP 676 was an ALCo RS-27. Reportedly it was built in 1959 as ALCo demonstrator 640-3 builder's number 83557. UP sold it in 1971.

Reporting marks and numbers reportedly associated with this locomotive include CP 8738, CP 1850, LS 1850, OHRY 1850, WNYP 417. It was transferred to the Ontario Midland Railroad (OMID).

The real CP Rail 8716 was a CLC built H-16-44. Reportedly it was built in 1957 with serial number 2965 and classified as a DRS-16j. It was retired in 1975 and scrapped. My model is a Rapido HO model.

Southern Pacific (SP) GP9 3604 led GP9E 3749 on an unknown date in June 1974 in Oakland, CA. According to OPRRMS, "The train is eastbound (southbound), just about to cross Market Street, between Magnolia Tower and Jack London Square. The building in the right background is gone, but the other one in the left background is still there, converted to small business and lofts/work spaces. The 3604 was unique for having a replacement Leslie S3 horn. It's visible in this photo. The unit likely acquired it from the UP during the time SP and UP had a run-thru operation between Roseville and North Platte/Council Bluffs during the early 1960's. Both railroads suppplied GP9's."
SP 3604 was an EMD GP9 SP Class EF418-7. Reportedly: it was built in 1957, builders number 22945, as SP 5763, SP Class DF-607.
In 1965 it was renumbered and reclassed becoming SP 3604. This locomotive was upgraded in 1975 emerging as SP 3786 EMD GP9R, SP Class EF418E-3.
The disposition of this locomotive is: retired and sold in 1995. Became Inter-Rail Link (IRTX) 1101, In 1998 became Arco Products 4554.

BNSF 6058 is a GE ES44AC. Reportedly: it was built in 2006, serial number 57033.

The Southern Pacific (SP) Westside Hauler was headed railroad east on the then SP Westside Line on Friday, May 12, 1989. GP9s 2873 and 3779 were working at Patterson Frozen Foods in Patterson, CA.
SP 2873 was an EMD GP9, SP Class ES418R-3. Reportedly: it was built in 1956 as SP T&NO 443, SP Class DF-611; builder number 22897. It became 3565 in the 1965 renumbering, SP Class EF418-7. It was rebuilt in 1977 to SP 3798; SP Class EF418R-3. In 1978 it was demoted to switcher status becoming the 2873, SP Class ES418R-3. It was retired in 1991. In 1992 it was sold to LMC Metals in Richmond, CA. In 1993 it went to the Feather River Railroad Society in Portola, CA.
Historical Note: The date May 12, 1989 was also the day SP train 7551 East, the 1 MJLBP-11, crashed in a runaway train derailment at San Bernadino, CA killing four.
