DJ/radio presenter/youth worker Cork city Ireland Music is the weapon of the future (Fela Kuti)

The pirate radio era may be over as such, but the spirit of such endeavors remain & young people will always seek an important alternative to the mainstream. *Yes that is a mobile phone that weighed more than my MacBook does now www.echolive.ie/entertainmen...

Stevie G: Spirit of pirate radio still strong

As long as we have a mainstream, we will need an underground, and the spirit that powered the pirates will continue in other ways, writes Stevie G.

Enjoyed my weekly dj sessions this summer at the Fifth Quarter. Paul st looking much better with the seating outside & with more traders inside (more to come inc food court); hopefully new tenants too in former collins bookshop & the pub now vacant too (linen weaver). #potential

Had to drive to and from to Longford the other day (longford story) but the journey was made better by revisiting Sly & the Family Stone’s whole album discography in chronological order. The post “Riot” albums are so underrated the whole catalogue is so full of absolute gems 💫

My @thisisthenewschool series in @corkcitylibraries has come to end for the summer but I’d like to thank Margaret, Ben & the team for hosting us every month. We are back on September 27th. As always, music is a two way street and I am learning from the youngsters too.

Sad to learn of the passing of Siobhan O’Dowd, a great contributor to Cork who was unbelievably active in the community for decades & always full of good humour and encouragement too. Here she is taking over my decks at the Rainbow Picnic a few summers ago 🏳️‍🌈
