I saw the late Brian Griffin give a talk. I was amazed that he said he wasn't really interested in photography, he just used it to collect his ideas. While I'm not in the same place, and probably never will be, I do find myself moving in that direction, slimming down on gear has helped that.

When you walk into an establishment and see a photo on the wall, and think Oi! that's my photo ! Not really, just a reminder there's not much around that hasn't been photographed before. Or even in a similar style to your own.
