Look at these cuties! So many friends. 🥰 As with all my other patterns, this one is free+ on my Ko-fi.

Happy Birthday USA! I wrote you this poem.

Text of the first half of a poem that reads,
' They arrive with speeches polished bright,
star spangled banners worn with delight,
promising order, freedom, peace,
yet bringing fires that seldom cease.

Across the seas, decisions fall,
from oval offices and ballroom halls;
a signature, a vote, a plan.
Somewhere else a child must stand

amid the dust of shattered stone,
learning what it means to be left alone.
Maps are redrawn by foreign hands,
and wealth is extracted from ‘liberated’ lands.

Governments rise, governments break,
but not always by their own mistake.
A covert whisper, a funded side,
a tide of weapons turned on Pride.'

'The language speaks of noble aims,
but villages remember names,
of broken promises and futures sold,
of wars gone by and wars of old.

A nation spread from shore to shore,
yet hungers still for even more.
They call genocide “Manifest Destiny”,

Pride Besties SAL complete! Oh my, I had so much fun waiting each week to see what the next queer animal was going to be. It was my first time joining in a SAL and it HAD to be this pattern by @samanthatextiles.bsky.social and I had a blast doing it.

It has been washed and ironed and the nasty yellow stain on the bottom is gone. Always wash your hands before stitching. You’d think I’d know that by now.

This took 19 hours to stitch. Time well spent.
