cycling around dartmouth/halifax/nova scotia

Earlier today, driver behind me clearly on his phone at a red. Doesn't notice it turn green, big delay following me. Catches up but same thing next light. Road has a slight curve next, leaves lane twice. Pulls in behind me at the daycare to pick up his ~three year old. Infuriating.

We're watching mtb videos (Asa Vermette's Ascent) and my three year old goes "I can do the pump track but I don't think I can do that." as Asa hits a 75ft gap. Maybe someday buddy. (but not if he inherited my coordination)

Got out to the Eastern Passage Bike Park for the first time today. My youngest is finally starting to grasp how to glide on his balance bike so both kids ended up having a blast.

I'm a sucker for hip hop backed by classical instruments so naturally this new live concert album from Lupe Fiasco and Nu Deco Ensemble has been getting a lot of play since discovering it last week.

"Italy Tank", they certainly did boss. (btw did AI write this product title? It isn't a "FIFA Women's World Cup 26 tank", its a "Women's 'FIFA World Cup 26' tank", come on)

the TD ad with the delivery robot is the worst ad currently on tv right? (okay maybe aside from gambling ads). If they want to promote a slogan "More Human", they should be throwing that robot off an overpass.

It's been a fun week of guessing how many drivers won't stop at a crosswalk if the lights aren't flashing regardless of how many kids or adults waiting but glad to see the RRFB on Waverley Rd being fixed.

Tried out a bird scooter for the first time in town. Same price and slower than an Uber but more fun? I'd be curious how much $ stays in the community using this vs rideshare.

Pretty fun time down at the Garrison Grounds (Halifax) for the World Cup watch party. Massive cheers for Shaffelburg when he subbed in and the crowd went wild when we scored.

So I'm pretty clumsy, it's verifiable. Today, I managed to lose my workbag off the back of my bike coming off the bridge. Didn't realize until I got to work. Major thanks to whoever likely moved it off the path and realized I'd be back for it soon rather than take it with them.

It's crazy how often the southbound green on Wyse Rd gets blocked by drivers entering the intersection to turn left onto the bridge when its already fully blocked. Like fairly usual for there to be 8+ cars still in the intersection when the light changes.

Pulled over on Devonshire after seeing how far the traffic was back up from the Windsor Exchange to call my wife. "You over the bridge yet?" "No, why?" "Uh oh, I'll get the boys today" Bikes: for when you don't have time for traffic

Was crossing the Burnside overpass this morning and noticed how slow the Circ traffic was moving... kind of wished there was a bike lane along the Circ so I could go pass a bunch of cars. Thankfully still got to do that on the Macdonald.

When I was buying my RadWagon a couple years ago one of my must haves for it was the Caboose accessory. Aside from being the attachment point for the weather cover it also extends the frame out so if the bike falls the impact point is the metal triangles instead of your kids' knee(s).

Wagon and Caboose pics for reference

Kids had a fun evening enjoying the new playground at the Commons and scootering around the skate park next door. Definitely going into our rotation of places to go.

Bearly's House of Blues is having a bunch of 40th anniversary shows this weekend and I'm kind of shocked most of them aren't sold out. Keith+Garrett, Gnarltones, etc, should be great.

8 kids on our first bike bus ride early this month and 12 today. April is very much a bike-able month. (kids are mad I ran out of bike bus stickers though)
