Jeeves Bunny

Furry writer, devourer of books and manga, generally every bit as nerdy as you'd imagine. Trying to relax and have a little fun every day! (they/them).

Do you ever look at a tree and think "damn, that's an archetypal, tree-ass tree! Like a total 'unicorn trots out from behind it', 'bard leans against it strumming their lute', 'pray under it and be granted the boon of the guardian spirits of nature' dang TREE! Some local examples:

A very large coniferous tree with a gnarled trunk that branches off in many ways. A very large deciduous tree worthy of Lothlorien.

Listening to the Beatles complete discography for the first time continues. I hit Magical Mystery Tour and was shocked by how little I remembered given that it was one of the two records my family definitely owned when I was a kid. Also I am the Walrus is even more trippy than I recall. 😅

Watching a very silly comedy romance anime and somehow found myself invested enough to yell out loud when one of the main characters just confessed to the other out of nowhere at the end of episode 8. 😍

I spent years of my adult life trying to push myself to "Read more! You should read more!!" and failing repeatedly. Then I started seeking out fun, light-hearted books that were the exact opposite of the "literature" I'd been raised with. I read over 100 books last year (137 to be exact).

I swear to God, part of the problem of literacy is that we make kids read SO MANY books like this. Of course they’re going to associate reading with misery! We put them in a Skinner box and shock them when they read, what did people THINK would happen?

Listening to the Beatles entire discography for the first time update: No other "I've heard that but didn't know it was a Beatles song" moments yet, but I have found my first "Wait this song slaps, why HAVEN'T I heard it before??" with I've Just Seen a Face, from Help!

Films you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Star Trek, Star Wars, LOTR, Marvel, Disney, or Ghibli. I haven't watched any movie six times in my adult life (though I think I've seen Zootopia 4 times), but from my childhood? The Neverending Story!

Oh Yeah!

I'm listening through the Beatles discography intentionally for the first time since being exposed to the albums my father played when I was a kid. I've entered the "wait that's a Beatles song??" phase where a song starts playing and I realise I heard it in a kids show or a movie I saw 30 years ago.

People always talk about the hypothetical kids that ended up being called Denerys or Khaleesi coz they were born during the height of the Game of Thrones craze, but I wanna meet a Jadzia or a Nerys or a Seven, coz if there's any justice in the world, those kids will turn out BADASS. :D

Star Trek: Kira Nerys' Less Subtle Approach

Alt: A Gif of Kira Nerys from Star Trek Deep Space Nine, showing her picking up a phaser, modifying its settings, and walking off screen with purpose as dialogue in the image reads "All right. Time for a less subtle approach."

FFXIV Evercold prediction I'm writing down just so I have a note of it, whether right or totally wrong: Y'shtola makes a breakthrough and gets portal'd to the Fourth. The WoL + buddies use the key to follow, but time dilation prior to the worlds connecting means that Y'shtola is an old lady by...

Shrek the Musical has no right to be as narratively compelling as it is, lmao. I saw it on the West End stage in around 2010-11 with a friend kinda as a meme, but after Princess Fiona's first song (I Know It's Today) I was fully fucking invested. 🤣😭

I feel like either my old mouse was doing weird unexpected clicks or somehow youtube was being screwy, coz over the last month I've noticed three occasions where after I watched a long video/stream on a channel, I've noticed several days later "wait, I'm not subscribed to that channel any more??"

With the birth of a hecc-tonne of baby Tyrannosaurs in Ancientspark, I'm considering this Fortress a total success. Ancientspark ends with a total of twelve dinosaurs/ancient creatures on display including three of imo the big four "classic" dinos (Tyrannosaurus, Stegosaurus, Triceratops). <3

Out of touch Italian grandmas: "I will judge the suitability of my grandchild's potential romantic prospects by how the pronounce 'Bolognese'." Me, rocking up with Giuseppe from the club: "Spagooter Bolognooter!"

Feels like I chose the right time to stop using patreon as a platform. Barely a week after their big "pivot to social media" and I'm starting to get official emails telling me I'm no longer a member of a page I've never heard of run by a creator I've never heard of, which doesn't seem to exist.

It has been 0 days since Jeeves stopped listening to a podcast because the white male host who recently turned 40+ said something unbearably hateful and messed up and played it off like a joke. I shouldn't be surprised, but somehow I always am.

I finished levelling White Mage in FFXIV and gosh I'm surprised how much I like playing healer! But while I'll undoubtedly keep playing WHM just for fun, I have a wheel of jobs to spin to pick what I level up next. And the wheel declares... I'm gonna level DANCER next! :o

A screenshot of an electronic spinning wheel from a random result generator website, containing all 16 of the Final Fantasy 14 jobs I haven't played yet. The wheel has been spun and the result is... Dancer! My Final Fantasy 14 character, a viera (rabbit-eared folk) lady wearing the starting gear for the Dancer job, and holding two chakrams as weapons.

I love a low stakes sports anime so imagine my horror when I saw there was a tenpin bowling anime, only to discover that it's actually a TIME TRAVEL DRAMA. Noooo I just wanted to see people bantering and throwing balls down a laaane. XD

Happy Canada Day! Or, as Quebecers say, happy moving day! (Credit to Sniper_231996 on reddit for this gif of maple leaves dropping from the trees in Dwarf Fortress. Did you know you can still play ASCII mode? I dare you!)

The dream of the dino update has been realised. <3 Not only does the fortress of Ancientspark have its own army of war trained Afrovenators, but the elves I'm at war with are riding friggin Ceratosaurus into battle against me!

A cropped screenshot of the Dwarf Fortress combat log, displaying combat between a group of dwarves from the fortress of Ancientspark and an elven army that includes war trained Ceratosaurus'. The final text entry in the log reads as follows: "The captain of the guard slashes the war ceratosaurus in the head with her iron short sword and the severed part sails off in an arc!" A cropped screenshot of Dwarf Fortress showing a trio of Ceratosaurus following an elf into combat against my dwarven army. Not visible in the screenshot are the three elves mounted as cavalry upon the dinosaurs!
