The kanji ateji spelling for “concrete” (混凝土) is a mash-up using “mix,” “congeal,” and “earth." Pretty spot-on. However, it turns out there's an even WORSE way to write this kanji: with the kanji 土 and a bunch of katakana piled on top of it to make a new kaiju kanji.
Recently one of my nephews stopped by and I showed him the old Mac we had set up in our living room. He immediately got sucked into Kid Pix. It’s so cool to see them enjoying the programs we grew up with.
