This makes me think of a story I read where someone was really excited their bush was producing berries when they woke up to see a deer "prancing dickishly away" after eating them all and they briefly entertained thoughts of venison.

I did say this with genuine positive intentions, but discovering that YET AGAIN THE SQUIRREL HAS EATEN ANOTHER OF MY STRAWBERRIES BEFORE IT GOT A CHANCE TO RIPEN might turn me into a supervillain.

imo the difference between cultural appreciation and cultural appropriation is recognition. if you make salt and pepper tofu and recognize it's Cantonese, then that's cultural appreciation. if you claim the dish is an old family recipe, that's cultural appropriation.

Had a weird comment on a post I made about tofu the other day suggesting that enjoying Chinese or South east Asian cuisine is cultural appropriation and I just wanted to point out for anyone who didn't know: You know we're allowed to enjoy other people's cultures right? Just not exploit them.

What some call "unused land" is often the last safe haven for countless living creatures. Wetlands are not empty spaces waiting to be developed. They are nurseries for birds, natural water filters, flood defenses, and wildlife habitats that cannot be replaced once lost.

I’m nursing (my first!) sports injury. That means doing a lot of teeny tiny movements in the gym instead of big movements. I would rather deadlift three grown men who deserve it than do these teeny moves with the teeny stretchy bands. Ouch.

The announcer actually said: “The English, historically, do not do well in Massachusetts” That might be the line of the World Cup⚽️✨

Final World Cup score between England and Ghana, nil-nil.
