The government is opening 100 new community-based mental health centres across England, providing same-day, drop-in support without the need for referrals/waiting lists and over 50 new mental health emergency departments. We hope they work with unis to address the barriers that exist for students.

The Government recently announced a new 10 year mental health strategy, aimed at driving a shift from crisis intervention to preventative care. This is a welcome development and an excellent opportunity to turn the tide on mental health care in England. The government has to get this right.
