The trainstream media is so biased that they didn't even mention how Addison staying in DART affects councilman Howard Freed, who has been stuck behind a bus on at least one occasion. At least PRETEND to be balanced and throw in some statistics about violent crime within 5 miles of a train station.
As of 10 p.m. Saturday, nearly 70% of voters in Highland Park had voted "no" to staying in Dallas Area Rapid Transit. Unofficial election results show voters in Addison overwhelmingly favor staying in the regional transit system.
They say it's always darkest before the dawn. Today, the sun never came up. High gas prices have kept the mood in the office grim. We needed hope. But we woke up this morning to learn that residents of Addison decided to remain in DART. The transit riders just pulled the ladder up behind them.
Lately, our newsroom has been decimated by high fuel costs. When we mandated all Suburbanista employees live at least 80 miles away from the nearest office, we could not have anticipated that our government would fail so spectacularly to protect our constitutional right to cheap gas.
We weep for our fellow North Texans burdened with high gas prices. The greatest tragedy? This could have been avoided. If our leaders had widened DFW's highways to 64 lanes 30 years ago, we wouldn't be wasting precious fuel idling in gridlock traffic. We need to elect more motorists.
This is hurting real families now. Our local governments need to make it a priority to use public funds to provide transportation. $5000 subsidies on new cars would go a long way!
“When insurance, gas, repairs and maintenance are included, the total cost of owning a vehicle has risen more than 40% since January 2020.” This is not sustainable.
Our staff is really looking forward to spring break. We've got lots of cruises and stays at resorts planned. Imagine accommodations, fun things to do, restaurants and entertainment all in one place. Why has nobody tried to build a suburb like this?
They're not wrong. Going on a nice drive on one of North Texas' many arterial roads IS habit-forming. But unlike cigarettes, cars make our lungs happy! Cars filter out all that air pollution that tends to linger near roadways, letting the occupant take a drag of that crisp, clean, cool, fresh air.
Car dependency is a hell of a drug. #UrbanTruth
DTS was indoctrinating children long before DART's Student Art Contest was a thing. Want to raise Dallas' youth on anti-social behavior like interacting with strangers in public? Just dress up your anti-motorist agenda like a cute little bunny! Look at its little whiskers! Pure evil.
Why would you try to have bunnies on a bus when instead you could just convert the whole bus into a bunny? Complete Dallas Transit System victory here.
City leaders are asking residents to unplug their routers after an individual allegedly shared details about the full cost of Irving's car-centric city plan to residents on Facebook. The Office of Emergency Management urged calm and asked residents to remain inside until the all clear is given.
The influence of Big Transit Rider was on full display at today's DART board meeting, where terms of the transit agency's surrender to Plano, who just wants to repave its streets and abolish buses, were being discussed. Makes you wonder who is paying all these people to depend on public transit. 🤔
Addison resident Mike Barnes says that DART is a waste of money on days that he doesn't ride it. "And what's with all the buses I don't use? I only ride the express bus to Downtown." Barnes says that he hopes the city can rejoin DART for the first Friday of the State Fair, his favorite time to go.
A Plano councilman speaking on condition of anonymity said that residents in the gated communities he serves were furious over DART "flexing" its superior ability to move people around in this week's ongoing inclement weather. "People don't buy Cybertrucks to be treated this way."
Our Reddit wrapped for 2025 makes us feel seen. Us in 2035: "Does anyone know if the 40-mile round trip for a single Slim Jim is still considered a 'short' commute?" (If it's not, society is done for.) reddit-wrapped.kadoa.com/suburbanista

Addison council member Howard Freed was removed from the guest list after the city declined to call a DART pull-out election. "Cutting essential public services isn't a La-Z-Boy, Howard. This doesn’t sell itself," an Uber rep said to Howard in the DARTstoppers Signal group, as seen by Suburbanista.
As trucks and SUVs explode in size, safety experts urge action to protect kids. These Frisco moms are meeting the challenge. "The tops of their heads don't even come up to the tires on these new SUVs! Only God can fix this. We ask the Lord to bless us with taller, sturdier children."
"When we started getting input from residents after committing the city to leaving DART, some pointed to our 'City of Excellence' motto. Like, 'Cities have transit!', and frankly, they have a point," a councilman told Suburbanista. "We're listening! Rest assured that we'll choose a new motto soon."
As Plano weighs replacing DART with on-demand "microtransit" like Arlington’s Via, critics worry it may not feel the same. “Having microtransit does not mean we can't satisfy our residents!” a council member said, adding, "Plano’s many lifted trucks could help compensate for having microtransit."
We respectfully disagree. We call this the Truck/SUV Response. Children feel this natural sense of wonder for large cars, but government propaganda like Thomas the Tank Engine confuses them. Only re-education in a good suburb can instill the appropriate, car-centric, well-behaved sense of wonder.
Children have an inherent interest in trains which has nothing to do with input from adults. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvpC...
"Adults can do whatever they want," a councilmember told our reporter at the grand opening. "But parents exposing literal children to the unqualified joy of trains is wrong. Kids don't know that public transit is unpopular and that nobody wants it. We have to teach them that."
This is a really tough day for us. The new S*lver L*ine tra*n is one more nail in the coffin for drivers who just want to enjoy their podcasts in peace while participating in our region's hallowed tradition of sitting in traffic. Is nothing sacred to you, DART?
"I agree with Mayor Jerry Jones that public transit will be bad for Arlington, and will bring undesirables in to our perfect suburb," an angry Arlington resident told Suburbanista. "But cutting transit service to Arlington out of fear of car-centric people and culture is downright discriminatory!"
Without a large SUV or pickup truck, how are residents of Cardiff supposed to obtain groceries? People are going to starve from this! North Texas is a proud sanctuary metro for British families who want to escape tyranny. Your children will dance around the family Ford F-350 with full bellies!
Cardiff will be the first UK city to introduce a surcharge for oversized SUVs and trucks, "while very large vehicles – those over 3,500kg – will be excluded from residential permits entirely."
"Travel time from Plano's northern border to Downtown Dallas will be just ten minutes, with five minute headways and connections at multiple DART stations," a staffer told Suburbanista on condition of anonymity. "We'll see how DART and those public transit advocates like THAT."
America's cities are struggling financially because of post-pandemic prayer shortfalls. Those associating budget problems with the dedication of half a city's land to surface parking need to stop watching @nerd4cities.bsky.social propaganda and start praying for their city's infrastructure.
yes! thoughts alone just don't get the job done! you also need prayers!
