What Hinkley did was an assassination attempt. Someone being stopped on another floor, multiple security checks away is the Secret Service doing its job. Stop using Trump framing.

Post from German was Jennifer Jacobs: the shooting happened on the level above the ballroom where the White House correspond to the association dinner was.

I don’t think people hearing about
this – – or even those of us in the room – – realize how far from the president, BP, and other gases incident was. It was on another floor, up some stairs, and several sets of security away.

because the Washington Hilton’s hotel and other public space were open for other functions, the entire building wasn’t secured by the Secret Service, just a specific areas of the White House

Let’s be clear about the context and how that informs what he’s saying. He bombed Iran. At least 1,500 are dead; 1,800 children are dead or injured. And he’s saying Iran is dead. And now Dems are the next worst enemy. Literally.

Image of a post from the demented piece of shit commonly referred to as the president of the United States. It reads “now with the death of Iran, the greatest enemy America has two has used the radical left, highly incompetent, Democrat party! Thank you for your attention to this matter president DJ T.”

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this: America's problems are solved problems. Just not here. What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

Screenshot of a data visualization titled “The Cost of American Exceptionalism,” subtitled “What would change if the U.S. matched the OECD average?” The page explains that each card shows how outcomes would change if the U.S. matched the average of 31 peer democracies. Below, a section labeled “Economy & Inequality” displays eight cards comparing U.S. figures to OECD averages. Highlights include: +$19K per household per year in redistributed income and +$96K in redistributed wealth if the top 1% matched OECD shares; a 71% lower CEO-to-worker pay ratio (from 354× to 101×); 50 million more workers with union coverage; 26 million more people with health insurance; $2.1 trillion saved annually in healthcare spending; $691 less per person per year in prescription drug costs; and intergenerational economic mobility being twice as high. Each card shows the U.S. value alongside the OECD average.

Sunday reading: I wrote about how the regime’s latest racist hate campaign is tied to the Right’s broader attempt to redefine citizenship and national identity in service of an exclusionary white nationalist vision. A deep dive into the Right’s visions of blood-and-soil nationalism:

Trumpism Is at War with the Idea of a Citizenry of Equals

The regime’s latest racist fury is tied to the Right’s much broader attempt to redefine citizenship and national identity in service of an exclusionary white nationalist

I spent the first 33 years of my life in Maryland and DC. The first thing to know about crime in DC is that the Epstein files still haven't been released.

So this is the brain trust that is traipsing through the government and dictating what program should be cut. Only the best people. I guess we’re supposed to just hope there’s no confidential information stored on it.

Anyone Can Hack Elon Musk’s DOGE Website, Coders Say www.thedailybeast.com/anyone-can-h... and they already did…by adding at least two database entries, including prank messages that read: “This is a joke of a .gov site” and “THESE ‘EXPERTS’ LEFT THEIR DATABASE OPEN -roro.”

Watch what they DO: Undermining airline safety and security, making traveling more risky. "The aviation security committee . . . will technically continue to exist but it won’t have any members to carry out the work of examining safety issues at airlines and airports."
