It's weird thinking about how I owe certain friendships to simply having happened to be in the right place at the right time. Had I walked through that street in Hachinohe a bit later, or visited that cafe in Shinjuku a different day, I would have lost out on important friends.
Honestly, items that have someone's chosen name on them are great gifts to give to trans people. Five years after I started living as Emily in all aspects of my daily life, and two years after it became my legal name, it still has quite the effect on me.

Friend with whom I shared a booth at last weekend's event suggested I look into opportunities to sell zines in the Netherlands, but it looks like the extremely few zine events there already had their application deadlines for this year... 🥲

Was discussing RGB and CMYK recently with a group of Japanese people and when I went "「black」なのに、なんで「K」だろう?", one of them quickly quipped "「黒」だから" lol
All my roommate does is ride her bike and play video games so she's still pure and innocent and relatively untouched by the internet to the degree where me and her other friends have had to explain words like "foid", "moid" and "passoid" to her
Roommate and her friend came home and I go "do you guys know about the 'waow meme'?" and my roommate's like "yeah, [roommate's other friend] saw your post and told us, but I had no idea about the meme..." while her friend was like "yeah what the hell!!? that's crazy" lol

Didn't sell as many poetry zines today as I had hoped, but even just getting to see people's faces light up as they read my work in front of me more than makes up for that.
I planned to use this working holiday in Japan to 1) build up my academic resume further to apply for a funded PhD at Leiden; and 2) to have a nice gap year between my second MA and my PhD. The fact that the plan worked out perfectly & I got into the PhD still feels surreal lol

Whenever I see another woman in Japan who is tall--like, at minimum only 7 or 8 cm shorter than me--I get a little boost to my mood. Hell yeah, fellow tall queens!
