I get why he thinks that way, but half the mechanics of minecraft requires you to have a wiki tab open anyway, not even a single dungeon mural hints you that diamonds are somewhere between 16 and -64 only, or that emeralds can only be found in mountains or windswept subtypes for example.
I suppose it depends on what you consider "glitches". I think using anything that is out-of-world to give you a benefit is a form of cheat. I know a lot of people don't agree with me, but using coordinates (or the F3 screen) is a form of cheat, in my opinion.
