Today is Mono's Birthday! 🏁🎮 #art #OC #OcSky #LoveMelodies

Illustration of my character Mono. He is playing on his handheld console, lying on his back with his legs lifted upwards and his head turned to the viewer. The background is decorated with various squares and cyber patterns.

🟠 innocence lost

illustration of my original character, boris velasco
he stares directly at the viewer with a bright orange glow in his eyes, dark hair blowing in the wind. he wears a light blue pajamas, and holds out his hands to cup a single, faint glow of a butterfly.
Around him flock dozens of ravenous crows, sharing the same menacing glow in their eyes. they are all aimed for what is in his hands at full speed.

Description:
This illustration pertains to much of Boris' character in general. His succumb to hopelessness, seeking power instead of love, losing his innocence and his whimsy.
The frail butterfly symbolizes what remains of his inner child (this is also why Boris likes Aiden, who i also associated with butterflies, because he subconsciously reminds Bo of who he used to be) and the crows are the jaded violence he has been taught to use to feel less small. By habit, they seek to destroy any traces of incorruption - because what if it makes him the weak one again?

bringing her back

The Legolas and gimli “never thought I’d die fighting side by side with an elf” scene from the two towers except the quote has been altered to read “never thought I’d die fighting side by side with Catholics/what about side by side with a Pope Against AI!/Aye, I could do that”

Dustin A. Chacón@lingdustin.bsky.social · 2w ago

I've heard people make claims that AI would lead to a new Renaissance, but I didn't imagine it'd happen like this:

Screenshot of a Tweet from Pope Leo XIV. It reads:

"In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgen to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity."

With Tapas shutting down next year, I finally uploaded the chapters of Vol. 3 to Namicomi. Vol. 4 and the most recent chapters of Vol. 5 will follow shortly to bring them up to date with Webtoon and Animexx. u^u" namicomi.com/en/title/Kyw...

let this be proof that sometimes the best thing you can do for an illustration is to let it go for a bit and come back later

a side by side comparison of a centerpiece drawn for an illustration i am working on for my character boris velasco. the left is from january, the right is from october.

FYI, from Toocheke. They added a Tapas migration feature.

A screenshot of an email that says

Import Your Tapas.io Comics Into WordPress
You may have seen the news about Tapas shutting down. If you or anyone you know publish there, you’re probably wondering what happens to all of your comics and years of work.

We’ve just added a new import feature to Toocheke Companion (available in version 2.23+) that can move an entire Tapas series into WordPress for you — including episodes, images, thumbnails, and original publish dates.

It keeps everything in order, so you don’t have to manually copy and paste hundreds of pages.

Because of the Tapas news: It's obviously not a substitute for a complete comic website, but I wanna mention "Google Photo Album" as a quick way, to make a comic archive as a backup or interim version. Just throw in all your pages + extras, seperate chapters with a title text; share link, done.

European artists! The EU commission is opening a feedback on the use of AI in the cultural and creative fields. Their vision is clearly pro-use of AI, but we clearly have an opportunity to push back: ec.europa.eu/info/law/bet...

MANY changes happened while making this. Making an illustration with many characters is hard. Rearranging stuff, reworking poses, checking values... so many headaches... In the end, it was worth it. I'm happy with the result. Did you spot the lil' cameo? he appears for only a few secs🤫

To all artists around the world. Don't forget the OC you created when you were 12! Remake them! Give them a modern update! That character is practically your firstborn. So dig up that fossil and polish it.
