Quand décide-t-on qu’une espèce est éteinte ?
Il est bien plus difficile de prouver une absence que de constater une présence. Déclarer l’extinction d’une espèce est le fruit d’un travail d’observation minutieux et de longue haleine. Mais cet inventaire du vivant est essentiel pour adopter des mesures de conservation adaptées et sauver les espèces qui peuvent encore l’être.

Dernier jour de chasse. Plus que quelques heures sans s'empêcher d'aller dehors, à calmer la chienne parce qu'elle claque des dents et tremble si fort, à voir des 4x4 rouler trop vite et tirer des remorques remplies de chiens qui hurlent à la mort. Et la faune sauvage qui en pâtit, se cache, a peur.
